LaBalaDePlata ... i wonder how badazz it would be to fabricate an intake box from sheet metal!
Would be a waste of time, effort, and $$$$$ and wouldn't be badass at all since you're effectively creating a HUGE heat-sink. Click the image to open in full size.

There's a reason why the air intake system is made out of plastic.

Of the "About 7,490,000 results" (you must think that your time is more valuable than mine), reviewed www.coldairinductions.com ...
  • pricey!
  • absolutely no FoMoCo offering, let alone one for the F-150.
  • the (IMO) effective ones were "insulated" and/or "ceramic coated" (for insulation purposes).

But still not better than plastic.

Honestly I would agree that plastic would dissipate heat much better than metal, but when you have an intake like mine dumping fresh cooler air in its not like it's gonna be in there long enough to make a huge difference. And if you're making it yourself metal would be your only option... Unless you can mold plastic lol not to mention there are plenty of coatings you could use to keep heat down.

Yeah and I agree and I still think its not a horrible idea... It would keep the price down, if you look at some of the aftermarket systems the metal ones are much cheaper than say the plastic molded Volant or K&N
