Default Rain Sensing Wipers. What a PITA

If the things didn't come on the truck, I wouldn't have them. After driving nearly 400 miles from North Carolina to Kentucky in rain that went from light drizzle to heavy down pours I've decided they aren't the bees knees Ford wants you to think they are. No matter where I set the sensitivity the dayum things were too fast, too slow, or going from one speed to the other several times before they decided where they wanted to run. Just give me the old (like me) style, and I would be a happy camper.

I had a 2013 Escape Titanium with rain sensing wipers. I experienced the same frustration as well. That car was loaded with push to start, smart key, power tailgate....etc. I got so frustrated because my expectations were so high with all the convenience features. When things didn't work or were finicky, it would drive me insane.

This will show you how stupid I was - one day I stood behind the rear hatch and waved my foot under the car for 30 seconds trying to get the rear door to open. Lol. With a normal key, I would have opened the door, put my stuff in and driven away in 30 seconds.

Traded it in and got a STX with crank up windows........haha.

After having them....I wouldn't do without them. Mine are fine...but I use a polish on my windshield.

I'm too old and set in my ways to adapt to most of the auto features on these new vehicles. If there is a need to turn my headlights, wipers or 4x4 on I'll do it myself. I've been driving for over 30 years so I usually know when I need them or when I don't. I'm also not crazy about TPMS and TC. But if you own a new vehicle you have to deal with this schtuff.

"Just give me the old (like me) style, and I would be a happy camper."

This reminds me of the legal battles that inventor Robert Kearnes, who invented the intermittent windshield wiper system, fought with Ford Motor Company over patent infrigement. The film Flash of Genius portrays his story. Worth watching.

I have not had the chance to test out the Ford system but the auto wipers on my Grandmothers 2006 Chrysler 300C are dead on and work very well.

Wait, rain sensing wipers are an option in these trucks? I would have actually liked to have them, didn't know they were available.
