Yeah, I was thinking that same thing... here in Iowa the ethanol content is high on cheap gas year round, let alone when they move to winter blend; I'm planning on filling up with no ethanol premium on the next tank and seeing what I get. But I did read a comment in a thread on another forum that talked about the BMS cutting power to turbo(s), which would certainly affect MPG & HP, but not sure if that is just conjecture.

My 14 fx4 has a brake shudder, squeals, and the the radio will shut down to save battery power instantly after every time I turn my key off. Regardless of how long I've been driving. Maybe I should see a dealer lol. 38000 Kms.

Happened first on a trip out west. Got the message, but truck started okay after that. Next day, no start. Dealer (Jones Ford in Wickenburg, AZ) checked it out, found a dead cell in battery. Replaced the battery under warranty, all okay for a couple of months. Then started getting message again. Local dlr checked, said no prob found.
I found this forum, and found several others having same prob (posted earlier here). Checked back with local dlr several times, even checked with factory rep here, and no solution found. Prob is intermittent - went away for a while, then happened every day for a week or so.
Just traded for a '15 - hoping we don't see that again.
I have been using the truck for short one mile trips these past two weeks and I was surprised that the radio turned off (and got the message it was shut off to save the battery). It kind of surprised me; but the truck was alright after a 3 mile trip back home. Took the voltage from the wire that is hooked up to the battery for the trickle charger and it was only 12.2. I guess short trips of just a mile drain the battery. I have a voltage meter plugged into the cigarette lighter so I am keeping track of the battery state without opening doors. Gas mileage is pretty good for the short trips with freezing temperatures; about 18 mpg (US) or 15l/100 km for the 5 liter V8.

You're doing good DueceDriver. I have the battery warning issue all the time with our 2013. It has the ecoboast engine & gets about 15-17 mpg in winter. I've been told by the dealer that the truck is working like it is supposed to even though it didn't work that way when I bought it. It was good for about a month. I've had one battery replaced but at least it starts when I need it. I did check a 2014 on the dealer lot & the warning came up on it also.

I had the same problem with the battery saver on my 2013 F150 ecoboost. It started about 3 weeks after i owned it and problem stayed for another 7 months or so. No matter how far i drove it as soon as i shut the key off battery saver would come up, I did not ever have any problems starting it even when it was -20 out. After reading all the comments on this forum and seeing Ford did not have a solution, i just lived with it, finally after about 7 months it just quit doing it and has not done it since and i have now owned it for 2 years.

I sure wish mine would go away but I guess I shouldn't complain, at least it still starts & hasn't done some of the weird stuff that others have had happen.

We had same thing on our 2011, and I noticed what appears to be a Hall Effect Sensor around one of the battery cables. I tried re-positioning the sensor to see if it made a difference. Couldn't really tell if it did or not, as the shutdown was intermittent. Dunno why they'd have a sensor like that on there, unless it was to measure current being drawn while the truck was shut down.
Perhaps it's gone bad?
There's more discussion at http://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=109230

and an explanation of the sensors at http://www.wellsve.com/sft503/Counterpoint3_1.pdf

I haven't given mine an opportunity to come on. If I listen to the radio, I shut the truck off and then turn the radio back on.
Luckily I haven't seen the mssg in at least a 8 months, when I forget to turn it off accessory.

I just disconnected my battery for an audio upgrade, and now my power saving shut down crap has stopped. Quick fix maybe if anyone wants to try it.

I have a 2011 5.0. This will be the 3rd winter I've had it. The Battery Saver message only starts when the weather gets cold. That is usually in Oct. here in Northern NJ. This year it's been much warmer then usual and it only started about 2 weeks ago. I never had battery problems because of it, and since I'm retired I only drive the truck once or twice a week. I never get the message once Spring arrives and through the Summer.
This thread started over two years ago with hundreds having this problem. You would think by now Ford would show some interest in solving this. My local dealers claim they never heard of this before.
