30 seconds after engine shutdown.

all the voltages I mention are within 1 minute after shutting the truck off.

after the truck sits all night long its almost always at 12.2-12.4V. Right at shutdown the voltage is all over the place from day to day.

I like this idea! The dealer has had my truck for four days this time still trying to figure it out. This is the third time in. I am out of warranty in March, and am not real optimistic for them coming up with a permanent fix. Looks like I will have to just live with it, or figure it out myself. The second battery thing may just do the trick. If anyone has actually done this, I would love to see the details!

Ya, my 79' F-150 XL 4X4 full size Reg Cab Ranger had two battery boxes and two gas tanks with a flip of a switch you could see how much gas was in either and batteries hardly ever went dead in those days, even during extremely cold winters. If they were slow to start a squirt of ether always fired em right up. The next Ford I get, I'm tearing all that battery monitoring BS out.

I think there is room enough under the hood to add a second battery. It might take some fabricating unless someone makes an off the shelf kit. I haven't seen anything with "Summit" or "Jegs" catalogues. There are companies that make battery boxes that could be bed mounted with an isolator. Might be a simpler set up in the long run.

I loved those dual tanks! The days of actually managing our trucks on our own is over. These days, everyone thinks they need to wipe our noses for us, whether it's the government or Ford. I long for the days of just taking care of things myself. Call me old fashioned, but that's the way I like it.

12 Volt bolt or weld-in battery boxes:
http://www.afcodynapro.com/store?sea...=battery+boxes

http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performan...rPage=60&pno=1

I supposed it could be wired directly in series, that shouldn't mess with all the computer BS or with an isolator? Some one must make one for an 65N or you could fab one up yourself?

So they had the truck last wed-Friday, they assured me they finally found the issue. they said it was a software calibration issue with the BMS, they were able to verify the calibration was wrong. Well I told them I was 99% sure that the system had been recalibrated before a few times as its had 5 batteries in it so far, but they were insistent that this was the issue and the truck was fixed, they said they tested it over 2 days and service writer drive it home to make sure it was fixed. they washed it and filled it will fuel ( first time that has happened) well it was fine sat and sun and then sure as **** Monday I get to work I shut it off and am promptly greeted with "system off to save battery"...... WTF.. Tuesday morning same thing so obviously it still not fixed.........

so I sent a email back to the people at ford and they said they will look into the possibility of a "replacement vehicle" I have heard this story before with this truck and got nowhere with it at all so I have doubts that it will be any different this time but time will tell I guess......

Has anyone with light bars and stuff tried a yellow top? My battery seems to be having difficulty this year at cranking the engine in -30c even with the block heater. I know it isn't higher cca but maybe the deep cycle will help?
