Okay, so I am about to pull the trigger on some Bilstein adjustable shocks. My question, before I fork out the cash, is this: Do I HAVE to get rear Bilsteins? Or can I manage with just the Adjustable Bilsteins up front, with stock F150 shocks in the rear? Eventually I will put in some rear Bilsteins, but not at the moment.

Going to have dealer put them in, quoted me $120, so about $350 for shocks, install, and alignment.

I recently installed the Bilstein shocks/struts all the way around along with the rear add-a-leaf (fronts set at the +0.75" setting). Although the rear shocks are not mandatory, the ride difference with them in the rear was much more pronounced versus the difference in the front. If your not going to change the ride height up front save your money for now and do the back first. I bought mine from AJ-USA see link below:

FYI - As with many others I needed a alignment even after changing out the rears shocks which caused the steering wheel to be slightly askew - I waited until after changing out the front struts before getting an alignment though.

I am adjusting front, going with the highest notch first, 2.25 or whatever it is. And see how it rides. Rears will be put in eventually. Thanks for the info!

You don't have to change the rear shocks if you don't want. We had our front adjustable Bilstein Coilovers at 3" of lift in the front and ran a 2" rear block to get it level, and never changed the stock rear shocks for quite some time. Months later we put the Blistein rears on, which were a nice improvement. Now we have the Boss rears, which are also very nice.

If you only want to do 2 shocks, I'd do the rears first. You can upgrade the fronts later.

So...I need new front struts/shocks via an inspection from my local mechanic. Are the Blistens the way to go? Or should I buy another brand? Should I go with coilovers or just buy the shocks only? Or should I go with just factory strut/shock replacements?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Depends on what you want to accomplish really.
Bilsteins will allow you to stay at stock height, or obtain 3 different level options: 0.75", 1.5" and 2.25" over stock if my memory is correct. If you go with [MENTION=156426]F150Lifts.com[/MENTION] adjustables then you have an infinite amount of adustability all the way up to 3" over stock. There are other options out there, such as OEM-like replacements from companies like KYB and Monroe. The Bilsteins will provide you with a slightly firmer and more controlled ride, with the option to raise the front end if you so desire.
