Pulled over for Tint
#21
I was specifically pulled over for tint. Nothing else. Officer came up to my window and said I'm pulling you over for illegal tint then proceeded to test my driver window.
I have no past record with anything. Currently no points on my license or anything. I just believe I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I've passed PLENTY of cops before and never had a problem.
My plan after reading some replies and thinking about it is to get my tint removed from a local tint shop rather than dealing with it at the dealership. I'll still plead not guilty and take my chance with getting the fine back after taking the tint off.

Then go to court and show documentation of original purchase of truck with the illegal tint. Also documentation of the new tint by the dealership. Take pictures.
You purchased the truck that way!
The judge should drop the fine.
It's the principal of the thing - stand your ground.

So factory ford tint is illegal in PA? Is that what I read?

I would take it back to the dealer that sold the truck to you. Have them take the tint off the two front windows and replace it - for free.

Don't pay to have it removed. I have taken it off before, just peel away the film, get a razor scraper and some windex and carefully remove the glue residue. Should take no more than 15 minutes per window. Most tint places will charge you around $50 to remove.. Just my .02

I value my privacy and cool interior to not have atleast 20% on my front windows. Between the audio equipment and other valuables inside my truck whether it be personal or work related its worth the roll of the dice.
With that said both of my trucks (previous and current) have/had 5% on all the windows, yet i have upwards of 12 tint tickets iirc haha.
Have the tickets hurt to pay...absolutely but the time to strip it and go to a lighter percentage is not worth it or very cost effective (ticket+retint).
Pay the ticket and continue to roll the dice if you enjoy the tint. If it happens again soon then decide IMO

Wow ... that is a stiff fine, but as has been pointed out, it is our responsibility to be within the legal requirements. I'd add it to the "lessons learned" list, pay the fine and move on.

Every time I see a cop I roll down the front windows. Looks totally natural rockin to tunes with the windows down at -20C right? lol

Ya I was being sarcastic. lol. If they pull me over oh well. A lot of people have much darker windows around here, as long as I don't drive like an idiot i'm sure I'll be alright.
