Maybe I haven't had enough coffee this morning, but am I really understanding this right?

But you can afford to trade a truck that you only owe about $20,000.00 on for a used $40k SUV. Does not compute.
Two 60lbs Labrador Retrievers have more room
Mileage will be a little better
Very doubtful, probably not enough to notice anyway.
Can tow my dads boat (23' Jones Brothers Center Console)
Heated seat backs
Wifey will be more comfortable driving
No turbo lag
still customizable
Bose Sound System

Cons:
Less Engine Power
Can't Haul Dirt, Rocks, Etc. (We have a 1000 acre farm here in WV with plenty of vehicles that can be borrowed to haul things.)

this is what I have so far.

You've got to be kidding me, right? So I am estimating another 5-600 miles added to the website listing. Done some Research and $40,900 would be retail value for Great Condition, everyone knows as soon as its driven off the lot it is no longer in GREAT condition. Good condition will be the best. According to KBB.com, the Yukon in good condition with the same specs is around $37-38K. I'm hopeing my uncle and help me talk them down more. I have to stay under $500 a month for the payments, that is what my wife and I can afford. The truck right now is $485.00.

This
Your looking at diveing head first into a truck you haven't even seen yet let alone driven. Large suv's from all manufactures are abundant so take a deep breath and if you feel you need a suv then shop around, drive a few and you just might find one that you like better so 6months down the road your not looking to lose another$7on another trade.

Buy a cap (I know you said you can't afford one, but you'll be losing thousands on your truck). Make sure the cap has the sliding rear window with the little tunnel weatherstripping stuff. Have your rear glass swapped out for a slider (if it isn't already). You're probably looking at $2500, maybe less.

Now your two labs can ride in the bed and not get hair all over the cab. Luggage stays dry. And you still have a truck when you need to throw things in the bed (just maybe have to pull the cap off). Plus you're still about $5000 ahead compared to buying the Yukon.

So let me get this straight. You want a new (sorry, used) $40k vehicle when the one you have only has $20k owed on it. And you need this new (sorry again, used) SUV because your credit cards are maxed out and you don't have enough money to buy a cap.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Forget the coffee, I need a beer.

So put the luggage in the truck and the dogs in the bed. Dogs are waterproof.

I just read through 6pages and just don't get it. You have multiple cc that are maxed out and you want to lose money on your truck to get a used Yukon.
I don't know where the dealer is getting the numbers from but I say go for it if you can get that much for the truck. I've shopped mine around and the tops I can get for my 2012 4x4 supercrew xlt (everything minus backup cam) that only has 8,900 miles on it is 27k. I've decided to keep mine as I forgot over the winter how much of a beast it is towing. I get 14.7mpg towing my 5k boat and hand calculated 20.8mpg on expressway averaging 73mph.
Do what you want but personally I think your nuts and need to pay down any and all debt before even thinking about a more expensive vehicle. Or somebody is going to,get a great deal on a repossessed Yukon

Why are you buying such an expensive vehicle with so much debt? Since your credit cards are maxed out I assume you won't be putting money towards the yukon. You will be owing 60k. You can't afford a $1000 canopy so instead you're buying a $40'000 suv? I'm confused.

I paid off all my debt before buying a truck. Don't spend money you don't have...

I'm sorry, but I don't see the logic. You're going to have to go farther into debt to get where you don't need to be. Just deal with the cards you have been given until you can afford a cap. Go to Home Depot and grab some large rubbermaid bins to throw your stuff in and strap them to the bedsides. Then put an "f-150 cap" saving jar in the kitchen. FWIW, Yukons have worse resale value than F-150's, worse maintenance costs in the future and I think it's much less vehicle for the money.
Or a soft tonneau. You can get a tonno pro for $200

Y'all make it sound like its a done deal for me. I said I was looking at getting. Some of you talk about taking a huge hit on trading in the truck. For those of you who have spent hundreds even thousands on accessories on your truck. Don't you see that money going down the drain eventually as well? I love customizing just as much as the next guy, but in the long run its all just a waste of money. I'm going to talk to the dealer on Monday. Just talk that doesn't mean trade.

For those that are gripping about my finances and my two credit cards that are almost maxed out. You nothing of the rest of my finances and what I can and can not afford. I choose to put so much toward the cards each month. Yes I can not afford the upfront cost of a cap. But that can't be compared to losing money on a trade. I won't be losing any money on a trade if I can get more than what I owe. That is how I look at it!

Cap = $1000 to $2000

Yukon = $40'000

I'm no rocket scientist but I think it's obvious which route will save you money. I read most of this thread and you said cash flow was tight. People are giving you suggestions based on what you said. Now you're saying money is not an issue.

What's the point of this thread if you've already made up your mind?
