I just can't believe the idiots at the dealership didn't tell me to do this. Or did it themselves when I bought the truck and they moved my new tires and rims from my 2010 to the new one OR during the TWO visits I made to the dealership after.

It is kind of ridiculous that this would fix this issue. I'm guessing that there is something in the NAV system that calculates the tire size after a reset and then uses it for its predictive navigation algorithms.
There have been several threads on this. It keeps coming up. It seems to affect trucks with stock tires and oversize.

From what has been learned from these discussions is that besides satellite information, the truck also uses tire rotation, steering wheel input, etc. to try to be more accurate. Unfortunately it is causing more of a problem then helping since it apparently will override a perfectly good satellite signal position.

Default New GPS Antenna?

Took my 13 FX4 in to service today for the same GPS issue everyone's having plus a delay in touch screen response which seems to be getting longer. I also gave them a copy of the TSB you guys provided here just in case. I received a call from the advisor at the end of the day telling me the reflash and update wouldn't do anything alone and that they had to order a new GPS antenna for me? Apparently it arrives tomorrow so I could leave my truck overnight if I liked. My truck has 2200 clicks on it with 24" rims hopefully it's a one off problem and I have no further issues but reading all your posts has me thinking.

Angry Me Too

Hi guys,
I just registered on this forum as I too have a 2013 F150 FX4....and am having terrble problems with my GPS. The GPS indicator that follows you down the road sometimes goes off into 'whereever' and once I put in a destination, it will take, plan the route, tell me to go, and then completely loose where it is or where it is going. So I called the Ford dealer today and was in the midst of scheduling my truck in for a fix, but then was asked by the service advisor if I had insatlled a lift kit and larger tires. Well, yes, both...and was promptly told that was my problem . OK, how so? Seems that the whole system doesn't like anything except stock tires and leveling. She said that Ford is coming out with a fix but it could take a year. So here's my question to those of you that are smarter than me...how in the world can a leveling kit on the front, and 33" tires possibly affect a GPS???

I still love my truck. That EcoBoost is awesome especially when you put cold air intake, a straight flow-thru muffler, and a tuner in it. I'm now producing 450 hp and the gas milage has increased an average of 4 mpg regardless of how I'm driving it. So yes, I love the truck...as long as I don't depend on the GPS to get me anywhere.

Sounds like disconnecting negative battery terminal for awhile does the trick...

Take off the negative terminal for an hour, should fix your problem.

The issue appears to be that the software uses more than just GPS signals for position. It also takes in speed (which the larger tires are throwing off) , steering wheel inputs, etc. Unfortunately it appears that the system trusts this more that the GPS signal at times. I had this issue with a stock truck, so the issue is not limited to people who change the tire size.

Been fine for about 6 months so far on mine,

My Dealership fixed the Navigation issue on the second try. It took a little complaining but they finally got it. They cold booted the system, uninstalled and reinstalled the software, now better than ever was.

I don't know what's more frustrating about this issue: that you have to pull the battery off to fix the issue OR that the techs at the dealership seem to be completely unaware that doing so will resolve the issue.

I had my truck into the dealership 3 times before I found this fix.

After successfully fixing the issue I then called my tech adviser to tell him about the solution. He still tried to argue with me that changing the tires would throw the navigation off and that it was by design. I implored him to share this fix with his coworkers, but I got the distinct impression that it fell on deaf ears.

You got that TSB handy? I have not seen anything.
