Default Burnt electrical smell from driver side window electrical board

A buddy has a 2011 f150 that's been having some electrical issues, just off warranty as well, once the truck is started it seems as if it's losing power when you try to use the power windows, also said the gauge cluster flashed all warning and indicator lights as well. We both figured possibly the window control board was done since it smells of burnt electrical with a discolored electrical board on the back ( orange/yellow color instead of green). We replaced it with a new one from our local ford dealership, worked for a couple rides then it proceeded to do the same thing with electrical burnt smell. Help me out here what could it possibly be?

I'm having same issues. Did anyone resolve this issue??

I've been dealing with this for a couple of years now. It's so sporadic, and nothing permanent. Sometimes I'll be holding up the button and it'll just go back down on its own, or stop working altogether. But then it just starts working again immediately.

Default Same Window Issues

Im having the same issue with my drivers door window. Started off occasionally wouldn’t work, shut off the truck, then start it back up and it would work again. Now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve tried replacing the master control switch on the drivers door, replaced the drivers door window motor, and replaced the drivers window fuse, but still nothing. I’ve inspected the wiring from the switch and motor going through the door onto the truck and nothing seems to be wrong, looks new. My truck is a 2011 F150 with just under 100,000 kms on it.
If you can offer and info on solutions, that would be great.

My 2011 driver's side window does the exact same thing. It doesn't occur often and it only does it every now and then. Normally all I have to do is turn the truck off, then act like I'm getting out of the truck (lock and unlock the doors), then start the truck up and that normally resets everything. Funny thing is that every now and then sync acts up too and this reset method normally fixes the issue. Based upon your comment and my experience I'm starting to wonder if there's a computer issue.

Default Problem fixed!

First thing I checked was the window fuse and then the relay fuse, both good. Second thing was the wiring harness from the cab to the door. Pulled back the boot and the wires looked new. Third I replaced the main control window switch on the drivers door (it’s a 5 switch component) but still nothing. I then replaced the window motor, still nothing.
A lot of money spent and a ton of cursing. Went back and checked the wiring harness again and pulled the boot back so I could see where the wires attached to the plug. I found 6 cracked wires and 2 broken right up against the plug. Replaced the harness and window is fine.
Guys, don’t slack on the harness inspection and pull the boot back as far as you can, it might save you all the time and cursing I spent on this.
My theory is, occasionally the wire will separate enough to cause it to put a fault in the computer. By shutting off the truck, opening the door to cut all power then turning it back on, resets the computer and the window works again.
This also explains why my mirror defrost wasn’t working either.
Hope this helps for anyone having the same issue! This is definitely something Ford should look into fixing right from the factory. It’s to common of a problem.

My 2011 has the same problem. If I started it my window would not work some times. More so if it was cold or damp. If I turned the key to accessories and paused a second before starting it...it seemed ok. I disconnected the harness plug on the door and checked my wires. None were broken. There was dust inside the connector. I sprayed electrical connector cleaner into both ends and then put it back on. Was not easy to put back on. Its cold and damp and working...crossing my fingers.

Update: I have traced the power from the fuse to the window regulator motor and everything is as it should be. Both Power & Ground are good and the control wires are sending voltage from the new driver door switch. At this point my only conclusion is the brand new regulator & motor that I just installed are bad???

Default 2012 F150 xl power windows stopped working

Hello Ford F150 owners. New member who reads this site and benefits from others experiences. My power windows started acting up and would only work at various times. The windows would work sometimes but once the truck was turned off and back on they would not. It was both drivers and passengers. Ford dealer guy says it doesn't sound like the relay and wanted the truck to come in but I can't afford several hundred bucks so I used this site and others and started breaking it down. I thought it must be the switches so I changed out the drivers side switch set for 28 bucks, nope! Next was the relay number 49 in the drivers compartment fuse panel. I called my favorite dealer, 30 bucks, could buy it online or at one of the local parts shops for about 20 but I called the closest dealer, whom I don't like, and they had it for 20 bucks, a Ford part, good enough for me. That worked! Earlier my windshield wipers had quit working and I replaced the relay to fix that as well but I don't mind replacing the switch set because everyone says they eventually corrode. Side note: a guy on youtube figured out how to take apart his switch set and clean the contacts to fix his problem. Of course I came across it after ordering my set. Good luck! (59,000 miles on my original Hankooks, first time past 36K on dealer tires ever!)
