Default Poor Radio Reception/Antenna

This may have already been covered here, but I could not find it.

I just bought a 2011 F-150 and relative to all of my previous vehicles and my 2011 Expedition, the radio reception is terrible. Is this a known issue with a known solution. And no, Serius is not one of them - I can't stand the ultra-compressed sound I get from it, not does it have my favorite local stations.

I don't know if it's wide spread (since I can't find anyone with the same problem), but my FM reception on my 2013 is absolutely terrible. The Sirius is ok, but I understand that compressed sound you described. It's going to the dealer tomorrow for the most recent ecoboost tsb to fix the CAC and I'm going to mention it to them (though I'm sure they will blow me off about it...).

Anything ever come of this?

My 2013 FM reception just got significantly worse recently. It is a bit intermittent, but seems to be bad most of the time.

Any know issues with loose antennas? lose antenna connections at the radio? Is the radio/antenna connection easy to get to?

Same here on my 2010. It's worked just fine for 5.5yrs and then all of a sudden the reception on certain channels (of course those I prefer!! ) got really intermittent and bad!

Has anyone experienced similar? Have to think so....

Magnetic interference from solar flares if it is a good signal one day, bad the next.

Compared to my old 04 F150, the reception in my 2010 is absolute garbage.

My 10' is gradually getting worse and worse as well, kinda starting to bug me.

Wonder if its just wires, or corrosion in the connection to the antenna maybe?

The threads might be getting corroded, affecting the connection. Try unscrewing the antenna and then screwing it back in, that should clean up the threads enough for a better connection.
