If you'll look back to my original posts all I did was state the differences and try to stay on topic. Every time these come up though a few people, not all, but a few start up on the Platinum sucks this and the Platinum sucks that...I get tired of that. Just cuz you have a Lariat does not mean it is okay to degrade and diminish the Platinum. And then when I speak my mind on that garbage I'm the turd? Well that's cool I'll just have to be the turd then, because it isn't right for a select few to bad mouth a certain trim because they didn't get it and consequently bad mouth the owners of said trim!

I am a very humble guy that just so happened to have the budget for the Platinum and not once have I bragged or boasted about my truck. A friend was checking mine out not long ago and actually said that he should never even have looked at all the "goodies" because he would be lucky to afford a used xlt. I understand that everyone has different tastes and especially different budgets...but I be damned if I'm gonna sit idly by and let jealous, envious buttholes talk down a very nice truck for whatever reason. I work with a ***** who does exactly that! He's the only person to date that has had one bad thing to say about my new Platinum. He said it was a truck and I was stupid to waste my money on all those "nice car things." All the while this guy drives a 1987 F150 and secretly tells others that he wants a brand new loaded out Super Duty. He's jealous of what others have and can't stand it, so he degrades what he is jealous of. I get that from others on this topic and if I have to be the bad guy for pointing that out then so be it!

But like someone else said...

I'll keep driving my nice Platinum every day smiling from ear to ear and loving every second of it :-)

I see this post has become personal. Let's tone it down a notch. No need for insults.

I looked at the Lariat, FX4, and Platinum. I bought a Platinum because I liked all the things it had that just weren't available on the other two. That's pretty much it.

Besides, I fell in love with the black/chocolate interior. It's a commute rig more than a hauler, so we wanted it nice inside. A few years down the road at trade-in time, it might help that we bought a upper end model, but who knows.

They are top of the line for a reason and if you can justify to yourself the extra money then that is all that matters. I didn't want to have any regrets, and I don't!

Accept it and get over it!

I love the Platinum but the Platinum does not come with two options I would want. First and foremost is the heavy-duty payload and the off-road package. Both packages are not available on Platinum, but are available on Lariat. You can get one or the other. But not both.

For that reason I will put the Lariat trim HIGHER on my list, and the Platinum lower.

When it comes to heavy-duty payload or the off-road package, the Platinum is not in the game.

I made the same decision...I bought what I liked and because I don't off-road much or haul that often I wanted the extras of the Platinum for my every day ride. And I agree that trade-in/re-sale value is a big factor down the road.

I agree 100%. I wanted the Lariat for the same two reasons but once I realized that in my particular situation I didn't need them I decided to go with the Platinum. What I haven't done is talk down the Lariat as others have done to the Platinum. The only thing I can say bad about the Lariat is the light wood grain, that's it.

My honest opinion on this whole topic is that the Lariat would probably be the wiser choice for someone who works more with their truck...more off-roading, more towing, more hauling etc will all be better suited with the Lariat. The Platinum is a fine truck and will likely suffice in the previous stated areas but is more of a daily driver...I think that's it.

Here's how it went down for me. I orginially wanted a fx4 but could not find one with nav. Then I looked at the king ranch but could not find one in black. Cant stand that maroon color, reminds me too much of aggies lol. Also, not a big fan of the two tone but I love the king ranch leather. I guess it must be a texas thing. Thats how I ended up with my platinum and i love it. My favorite feature is definitely the power running boards. Everyone is always amazed by them. I know you can get them put on aftermarket but good luck finding the courage to give up $1500 for them. Never was really interested in the lariat because to me, its basically an xlt with leather for quite some $ extra. Plus i dont like chrome bumpers. I know not everyone has the same thought process as me.

Cool story about the running boards...my wife and I were getting back in the truck today when another guy noticed the running boards come down, he motioned for his wife(assumption) to watch and as my wife closed her door and they closed up he grinned real big and started telling her something, I thought it was cool!

Also, I was working a few weeks ago when a "Call of Duty" edition Jeep Wrangler wheeled up...girl opened the door and the running boards come down and the guy I was working with said "dude did you see that?" Funny part was that the running boards and cool *** Jeep was all we were talking about when we finally noticed the driver was a smoking hot blonde chick!
