The mod is a set or "Rugged Liner" wheel well liners. Chevy includes them as an option on their truck and I think Ford should as well. Only took 20 minutes per side to install them and they keep road dirt and mud from being thrown all over under the truck. On my platinum, the biggest benefit was no more water and grime on the running boards. BTW, $82 shipped on Ebay.

It is a liner in the wheel well , it closes off the tire area from all the suspension and dead space where all the grime splashes all over the running boards.
