There is one thing you have, that I won't...payload.
7200lb GVWR and I have 1117lbs of payload. Yes, my beast weighs in at 6080lbs roughly. All those little goodies we get eat right into available payload. Do I care? Nah, not one bit. I only carry that kind of weight a couple times a year.

yah, i think i can carry about 3/4 ton ... maybe 1700 lbs ... i cant recall for sure.

Bottom line is, i love my truck just as it is ... it's the exact one I wanted, and I couldn't be happier. And I'm also thrilled that there are so many options so that all of us can pretty much get exactly what we want, within reason.

We could all make fun of each other's tastes if we wanted to, but I just try to remember that I'm glad not every single one of us is driving around in a black FX4 ...

I actually think they used red and grey prior to a certain date on the Model T. Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program.

That rain-sensing wiper system can't be the reason, can it? Nifty feature that really works well and not available on FXs, Lariat, or KR (at least not the '13s). The padded leather front armrests are a nice Plat touch, too.

Not that those things were high on the list, but added to everything else it was, "What the heck. I'm over $46k (in specs on a Lariat) already, so go for it!"

Power boards are so cool and easy to maintain. That's why we see threads about adding the AMPs. Fully integrated (i.e., cluster-controlled) on the Plat.

Ahhh yes, rain sensing wipers. I do like them, but they have a mind of their own. They don't like a foggy window and they are WAAAAAAAY to fast in heavy rain. We had a good downpour last week and I was just waiting for them to come off. Forgot about the padded door rests.

my wife's '13 Expedition has the rain-sensing wipers, and she loves them. Me, I don't care either way about them. I Rain-X my windshield, and try to avoid using wipers at all if I don't have to.

The leather cover for the console would be cool, but I can have that done by that dude here that makes custom ones.

and as for the back seat stuff, I'm never back there, so ... it's not that hard to pass those options up either LOL.

Check out Diamon-Fusion (not Diamond-Fusion). I have it on my 2013 Plat. It was put on in March at the dealership (350 miles and o-o-s from my place) as a courtesy (i.e., great deal) for buying two Plats last year.

Drove the 350 home through various squalls and a couple of downpours. Didn't use the wipers ... even once. It isn't Rain-X or anything similar. It's permanent. Water simply doesn't stay on the windshield.

I do feel like interior and exterior lighting (excepting the HIDs and fogs) on the trucks (all the 150s) should at least have an LED upgrade option. You give me these great HIDs and then nearly everything else is this dull yellow incandescent. Forget that. Both trucks are now 100% LED via combination of Recon, Daytime BrightLites, and SuperBrightLEDs products. That includes even the vanity mirror LEDs. Maybe we'll see it as the 2015s emerge. Incandescent is outmoded technology, at least on a truck. Don't give me a crummy 47-cent, 1960s light bulb on a 2013 LandJet©.

is Diamon-Fusion something you apply yourself? Or is it installed by "professionals"?

It appears to be a molecular process in which the coating becomes part of the glass. AFAIK it is not for sale to us yahoos at large, so the the trained "pro" (licensed I'm sure) gets to do it.

My truck was done in 3 hours on it's first service: oil change, tire rotation, fluids checks/fills, battery test, all of it ... plus a small scratch repair and application of Diamon-Fusion. How long did that take and how hard could it be? My guess is "not very" and "easy". It's a wipe-on and remove-residue liquid process. No degree required.

DFI does make a consumer product, Clear-Fusion V (4oz. @ $85), that seems to offer the same benefits for other applications, like showers, granite, and porcelain.

I was told by the dealer that the Diamon-Fusion treatment is about $500. That's a whole lot of Rain-X. Don't know about a "re-application" fee if you suffer a windshield replacement.

I will probably order some Clear-Fusion to try on the other truck in a couple weeks. If it doesn't hold-up over time, I'll say so.

Best thing about the DFI product (so far) is no more waterspots. Let's see about that after next winter. I think the product is good, but question how it is promoted and sold.

Love that Plat. Best purchase I ever made.

Don't mean to answer for the guy, but they're Goodyear Duractracs.

As far as I'm concerned, power steps and that's it lol. I don't like the wheels, tailgate thing, extra chrome, etc. but the "prestige" that comes with it is certainly nice. I've driven dozens of every trim with every option, and it really is mostly perception. I "think"/feel like Plats are nicer, but when looked at completely objectively, it's just another way to spend more money at the end of the day. It's the same thing as buying a Lexus versus a Toyota, even though they're the "same" car (I know they're very different, but using it for comparison's sake). "You're paying for the badge."
