Nice color, check out Desertdawgs to give some ideas for the future. He may be the mod king!

Great looking trucks. You guys keep giving me leveling kit envy. The 06 I traded had a slight level and I miss it dearly. That's one mod that the wifey will notice though, so it's on the back burner for a while.

Before I get to asking my question(s) here, let me first offer this disclaimer that I'm not ripping on Platinums or anything even remotely related to such activity.

That said, what exactly do you get with the Platinum package that you don't get otherwise? The only obvious things to me are the brushed aluminum plate on the tailgate (which I do not care for at all) ... and the emblems that say "Platinum" on the truck ... and the wheel selection/options are different (mostly chrome from what I've seen, again, which I don't care for at all). And of course, the grille options.

On the interior, engine, etc... what's the deal?

All I really know is that the Platinum looks to be an appearance package more than anything else, but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag (at least in my limited research).

So, for those of you with Platinum trucks, what's the scoop on them?

Wiggum, the leather is the real thing, the trim inside is aluminum, you get the retractable running boards, the other things you mentioned along with supposedly more insulation for quietness. Also Nav comes with the Platinum package, and a bunch of other little upgraded interior niceties. I was originally looking at the Lariat. When I built the Lariat the with the 502A I though what the heck I'll build the Platinum. The difference between the MSRP's was only 1600 bucks sans the moon roof which I really didn't want. I figured what's 1600 bucks when your already over 45K for the truck anyway. It's also hard to explain but the dear Wifey, and I test drove both the Lariat and the Plat we both liked the Plat better. Basically a matter of personal choice.

You didn't hear? There's an actual elite Platinum crew that builds our trucks, this is why there are zero problems.

The wheels aren't chrome at all, they're clear coated aluminum. Wanted33 answered the majority of it. Heated rear seats are standard, optional on Lariat and KR packages. Also, we get the wood trim section on the upper 1/4 of the steering wheel.

It's just another trim level up and above the others. Very similar to your FX just being a really fancy STX...sorry, I had to.

thanks, I get it now. There are features of the platinum I'd love to have, but could never drive one due to the exterior appearance. I don't like the shiny wheels, the chrome trim on the sides between rocker panels and upper body, the aluminum thingy on the tailgate, etc. I prefer the look of the FX4 (w/out the appearance package) over every other possible package. The only things I am missing that I care anything about are some of the little things on the interior, like the heated rear seats, armrest in the back, etc. But those are things I can easily live w/out.

thanks again for explaining the differences.
