Manure Smell from vents

Manure Smell from vents
I know that a thread has been started on this that is 38 pages long under STRANGE SMELL. I'm one of the originals that stated it had a farm smell. Dealer of course never heard of it and is a rather large dealer who sells over 100 trucks a year. They say they are researching it, but I have not heard back from them in a couple of weeks. This is a rather small sampling of owners on the forum so I can only guess that there are thousands having this problem. Is Ford hiding or trying to keep quiet about this issue??? Why no TSB on this???? Has anybody had their truck fixed and it stayed fixed and what did they do? I'm not bringing mine in till I'm confident they can fix problem on first try. Looking for some one to set up a poll on how many have the problem, I don't know how to do it. It seems prevalent in 2013's with a few 2012's. Was there a part change in late 2012???

My 2013 SCREW FX4 still stinks like horse manure for first few minutes after I turn AC or heat on. On a side note - my 2013 Hyundai Sonata smells "mediciny" when I turn the air or heat on. I assume it's just the type of plastics used for the vents...sucks, and I doubt there will be any real "fix" for either vehicle.

Anyone ever try anything like this? We used to use it on customers older cars where the AC stunk pretty bad and it worked really good. Can't give you an answer on how long it lasted but we never had customers come back complaining.

My buddy's 2013 has this! We thought some of his buddies played a trick on him when he described "manure smell"! His only happens when he turns the heat on.

If you haven't already, I recommend making an appointment at your dealership for diagnosis. Need my help after your visit? Just PM me your info and I'll see what I can do to help. I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

I don't have access to a list of reported incidents or common concerns; if you're worried about it, your best bet will be to have your dealer inspect. Your dealer will also be able to tell you if they've seen this kind of issue before. Let us know what you hear.

my dealer dismissed it as normal, he said they're all seeing it on his forums (service writer forums). He gave me a can of stuff to spray in the cowl to neutralize odors, but the nozzle was gone so i can't try it.

I know there are some people who don't think it's a leak in the A/C system. They maybe think it's a clogged ac drain tube.
BUT.. I had the manure smell, and at the same time, I noticed an oil substance (pag oil) splattered all over my inside front windshield, right above the defrost vents. I also noticed an oil substance spraying out and residing on the inside door sile, below my side front window vents. As soon as they replaced the EVAP, no more oil, and no more smell.
If it was just a glogged drain line.., I wouldn't have had an oil substance (pag oil) spraying out of my vents.
