Default What aftermarket alternator should I buy?

Hello everyone. I have a 2011 XLT Scab with a 3.7. Truck has 181,000 miles. I am reasonably sure the front bearing in the alternator is going bad. I have already replaced the idler pully and belt. I also replaced the water pump earlier this year. Prices range from $126.00 to $440.00 for the OEM from the parts counter at the Ford dealership. I like many of you have had mixed results with remanufactured parts. So, what brand alternator would you recommend? Thanks.

Stay away from after market electronics on these trucks. Stick with OEM.

Fords are very finicky and to make everything work as it should, use OEM.

First I've ever heard of an aftermarket alternator causing a problem with the electronics on a vehicle, and we wouldn't be replacing the
OEM alternator if it hadn't bit the dust. I've had a new aftermarket on the truck for 2 years and not a problem.

The interesting part is that the OEM Ford alternator BL3Z-10346-A, $595/$491 is a remanufactured unit as there is a $75 core charge.

Sometimes they work, but I've seen too many that have problems, especially with the regulator. Good luck with the aftermarket, but you usually get what you pay for.

Well, if one were to need a part and look for the highest price unit, they would purchase all OEM parts because I don't
know of any aftermarket part that is more expensive than the OEM.

$341 @ Rock Auto For new OEM and you can find a 5% discount code in Vendor Showcase in this forum. ( And no, I don't work for RA I've just had good experiences with them in the past.)

I've also read a lot of posts here about aftermarket alternators being problematic.

New units?
I've probably installed 20+ new units on various vehicles and never encountered a problem.
I wouldn't touch remanufactured units of any part from the likes of AZ, Advanced, etc.as you're
asking for problems.

Maybe me, but don't see an OEM for OP's application listed at RA.
