Towing my Vette to a track event.
Almost 700 lbs of tongue weight, but none of it on the truck's hitch - that leaves me the entire payload capacity available to carry people and luggage in the cab, and hundreds of lbs of tools, spares, and other track support stuff in the bed.

Prior to backing up you do have to get out and drop two pins down that lock the pivoting mechanism, then you backup like normal, although I try not to turn tight when backing.
My heavily optioned King Ranch 4x4/off-road is VERY payload challenged - only 1020 lbs after I added a drop-in bed liner and BakFlip tonneau. With just me and my wife, our luggage and snack cooler in the cab, even with nothing in the bed I only have 500 lbs or less remaining for tongue weight, which would limit me to a trailer less than 4000 lbs.
With the Trailer Toad carrying the entire tongue weight of the trailer, I can haul up to around an 8000 lb trailer with my GCWR being the limit, and I can carry up to the truck's payload capacity in the cab and bed.
With the Trailer Toad I easily pull my 6500 lb car hauler, and after my wife and I and our luggage are loaded in the cab, that 500 lbs of payload capacity that remains can easily carry several hundred lbs of stuff in the bed and I'm not overloading any weight limit.
