I have recently purchashed and installed genuine ford rear wheel well liners for my new 2012 F150. I considered the Rugged Brand, but after researching the fit, materials etc., I decided to go ford. These can be purchased from www.accessories.ford.com. Pictures are attached. No drilling is required. Each liner has a front and rear tab that bolts up to the bottom of each front and rear strut and there are two factory type clips (with bolts) that attach to existing holes inside the wheel well. This adds additional front and rear mounting above bottom strut tabs. After the liner is fully bolted in, there are two push clips that secure the bottom edge of the liner to the frame. The mounting is very solid all the way around with full wheel well protection. They look good too! Cost: $133.00 plus tax. I contacted my Ford dealer and they were available in the parts department two hours after the call.

I couldn't get my clips in, but it was cold when I installed mine. I saved them and will try in the spring or on a warmer day.

The clips to frame are difficult. I used a 2x4 stud about 4 ft. long, rested it on top of the tire for leverage, placed it under the lower edge of the liner (next to the clip position) and had my wife push down on the 2x4 while I tapped the clip in place with a mallet. It worked! Hope this helps.

Looks good. I just purchased mine from my local dealer ($99+tax) and I hope to install them this weekend after I thoroughly clean the wheel wells. Did you bother removing the wheels or was it easy enough with them on?

I did not remove the wheels. The only tough part of the job was inserting the final rear section of the liner into the inside of the fender. It will take some strong tugging and bending to get it in there. Once it is fully in place, lining up the strut bolts with the strut, fender trim piece and wheel liner is a bear. Instead of re-using the original bolts and clips, I used 1/4x28 (fine thread) bolts - about 1.5 inches in length, washers, and self-locking nut. It is a lot easier to push the bolt thru all the sandwiched pieces and place a washer and bolt on top, then trying to thread into the factory clip. Good luck.

It looks like the rear part of it covers more than the Rugged Liners. Is that true? If so, I am jealous.

I couldn't wait for Ford and wanted protection ASAP when I bought my truck last year. For how painful it was to install guess I am leaving my Rugged Liners in....

Can't believe they don't install these from factory. Looks great and the added protection is worth it's weight in gold.

From the looks of his pictures (a bit small), the best I can tell is that my rugged liners actually come down farther in the wheel well. The rear part looks very much the same. You can tell the difference around the shock mount, the Ford liner doesn't come down as far whereas the rugged liner has a cutout for the shock mount.

To the OP - nice job and looks good. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand.

Mine stayed put for a 2000 mile trip at Interstate highway speeds in December, so I'm not worried about my Rugged Liners going anywhere. I don't think your Ford ones are going to go anywhere, either.
