Whatever program you're using to open th pictures should allow you to resize them which will reduce the file size.

Go to paint on your computer and open it up there. You can go into your options ( under view maybe ) and resize. Keep the same ratios of the pixels, ie chaning a 400x500 to a 200x250 is a 50% decrease. If I were at my computer I could tell you the perfect size that will fit and still be large, but I am on my phone, sorry.
