Well the paint I have sucks... Too runny so I have to use a hair dryer as I'm applying it. Crap.

Other than that looks cool. Not perfect but decent.

Well after installing on the truck and having it sit in the sun the paint has gone a touch ****ty and looks creamy In a few spots.

This sucks. Couldn't find any actual auto paint in a can.

Oh well hard to tell from a distance.

You can see it on the top edge.

I just used some acrylic paint that was posted by someone in the thread, picked it up at Michael's - it's just regular multi-purpose paint that supposedly holds up on stuff that's outside. It's held up perfectly fine so far.

I doubt anyone's is 100% perfect so don't feel bad. I couldn't snap off some of the glue so I have a few tiny spots that you can't really see unless your face is very very close to it. Nobody is ever gunna have their face up to them pointing out the imperfections anyways. Either way, it looks better than that clear stock look!

I might peel all the paint out and try again.

I will admit that I didn't read all 71 pages of this post, but has anyone just tried squeezing black silicone into this area instead of paint? Would kill 2 birds with one stone.

Exclamation

WAY WAY WAY WAY too thick... You would NEVER get it down in those crannies. Its hard enough to seal it with black silicone...

The method I used on my 12 and 14 FX4 is a little different than most. I taped off the front of the light and part of the back of the light, especially the bulb openings. I ran a razor between the housing and lens to get rid of any excess glue and to open it up a bit. Then I just sprayed multiple coats of gloss black paint in between the lens and housing. I maintained about an 8 to 10" distance when spraying and both sets of lights came out perfect. No pics but looks like it should from the factory.

Had my painter tape the line on outside of lenses, spray it black and then clear Oates the whole outside of light. A lot less hassle then chipping glue away and sitting there with a tiny bush getting pee'd off. There is no edge either when you run your nail across light, looks factory and way better!

That looks great! I wonder if I should try to do that. I have no experience painting like this, but it sure sounds easier and quicker than the syringe method.

Did your painter just paint onto the smooth surface, or did he/she create some surface disturbance (e.g., sandpaper) to help the paint adhere?

Terra I will ask him today, I did the syringe method on this set and it came out good but to me it looks hundred percent better sprayed this way. I will let you know what he did
