I just did this on my Sterling Grey FX2. I gotta say, I had a few 4 letter words for the OP when I was doing this. He should really change the title to "Painted Edges on Tailights looks good, but doing it might ruin your day."

Seriously this was not easy and took several coats and a mid-project trip to the paint store. I will say it might have been the paint I chose initially, but still, this project sucked.

There are a lot of imperfections in mine, but they aren't that noticeable unless you are really looking closely.

I agree definitely a lot harder then it looks but worth it...I used a 5cc syringe with 18 gauge needle and a 27 gauge for some of the tighter spots and it seemed to work well

Can someone help me. There are a few places where paint just will not stick. I cleaned the lights beforehand with alcohol and made sure they dried before I started. I used ford touch up paint and it stuck everywhere but a few places. I ran out of ford touch up paint and had to go to autozone and get some dupicolor touch up paint. The paint just will not stick it just runs over the area and doesn't coat it? I want to finish this today and not sure what to do???

I plan on using rtv black silicone to seal it and want to get the painting done today so I can let the silicone dry over night.

Any suggestions? Is residue on there not letting the paint stick?

Desperate here for help!

Nick

Dammit!!! Just when I though I was happy with the look of the truck, I see this post and realized I now need to do this. Now I walk up to the truck and that border sticks out like a sore thumb! I guess I have weekend project now.

It's a big difference to the look of the truck but it is definitely a PITA to do. The thread title is beyond misleading, lol.

Has anyone just taped off the lens and used spray paint or cant you get a good enough angle to get it fully covered?
