Default Oil and Oil Changes for 2013 F-150 XLT

I just purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT. Does this truck require synthetic oil and what is the recommended interval for oil changes?

8000 km and synthetic is not required. It's a choice.
All this info can be found in the manual.

Your truck takes a Fl-500s filter along with 6 qts of 5w30 synthetic blend oil.

Ford now say the oil change interval is 1 year or 10,000 miles whichever comes first. But my opinion on the interval is to stick with the 6 month 5,000 miles.

If I did what ford said my 5.0 would probably be three quarts low!

I used Mobil 1 5W-30 and a Mobil 1 filter on mine. It takes 6 quarts to fill it up.

5000 is a better recommendation that we are seeing in general with DI motors. Time isn't a factor, it's more of a driving style and trip type that matters. You can remove all doubt and get a UOA so you know for sure. Most of the UOA's prove that high fuel dilution and shear alone is enough to keep a reasonable interval. Use whatever w30 oil meets the specs and is priced right for short intervals.

I've only got 4K on the truck right now but will do frequent oil changes. It's cheap insurance IMO.
