Not sure if you mean the EB or another engine, so . . .
3.5L EcoBoost = 5w-30
3.7L, 5.0L and 6.2L = 5w-20

Shoot...I just take it to ford every 5K (premium maintenance plan) and have them put their standard semi-synthetic back in...same oil as factory fill. Ford semi-synthetic is a 80/20 blend. 80% full synthetic and 20% dino oil.

I have run mobile one in my avalanche since day one, but honestly...How can you really tell the difference or is their any scientific proof your any better off with full synthetic oil -Vs- if you change it every 5000. Unless you can say you have done metallurgical analysis on your rotating and moving engine parts, you are talking with your gut and not with facts.

So in my opinion to the OP...bring it to ford at least every 5000 miles and tell them to change your oil and enjoy your truck. There is a reason they have extended the oil change intervals to 7500 miles and beyond. Oils have become so advanced, there is not much breakdown anymore between schedule oil changes.

This cracked me up! Ever hear of turbo-prop engines, jet engines, rocket engines. These are probably some of the finest designed engines of the century.

Just messing with you, I'm sure you meant the finest designed truck engines of the century.

And THAT is why I will take a case of 5W-30 Mobil One for them to use. I have seen too many posts of folks getting 5W-20 in their EBs from the dealer.

When someone tells me they only used a blend or a conventional oil, and they always changed the oil at the recommended interval, and any time during the life of the engine they noticed either a drop in power or a failure that turned out to be because of the oil they used, then I'll switch to full synthetic.

FWIW...I use the 5w-20 motorcraft blend at 5000 mile intervals, and I drive a LOT. Currently have an 07 Mustang GT with 140,000 miles on it, and changed the oil every 5000 miles, including doing the first change at the 5000 mile mark, and the car runs as good as it did when I bought it. That's good enough for me.

After my first oil change I will be switching to amsoil full synthetic. Boss put this stuff in my e250 work van and I've been getting the best gas mileage ever with that stuff!
