I went to two different dealers and got the same treatment from both... how much of my time am I supposed to waste trying different dealers?

Already solved the problem buy selling the truck

Can you take a video of the ticking noise? You sure it's not just the normal sound of the lifters?

If you want to quiet it down and stop the oil consumption in one fell swoop, you could try going to a high viscosity oil, something like a 5w-30. I haven't done much research on how well these 5.0s respond to a 30 weight oil, but in most vehicles a jump up in viscosity doesnt hurt anything (except maybe fuel mileage) and will usually fix oil consumption and quiet it down a bit

I can certainly take a video of it, I'll also take a video of the converter. It will be a day or 2...but I'll post it for sure!!

Or go with a decent synthetic. When my customers complain about consumption we first try a synthetic then up the viscosity.

How many miles are you going between oil changes?

Amsoil usually does good when it comes to oil consumption. Got a guy that comes into my shop, 30K between oil changes. He has 180K miles, no leaks, no consumption. Crazy.
