Being pissed is more than justified.
Not to mention they installed those Bilsteins upside down. A monotube shock is recommended body up so you don't damage the body offroad.

Update: I just did an oil change on my truck. I checked the level before I started. My oil life is at %42 remaining, and it was low just over a liter. I also took a sample of the oil which will be going to Blackstone labs.

I cut open my filter, and started looking inbetween the flaps looking for material. I haven't found anything there, but what i did find was inside the housing. I ran my finger through it a few times and it kinda feels like sand. Very fine particles and very small. Thoughts??

Also, I was able to pretty much isolate the knocking cylinder myself. I stethoscoped on top of each coil. Started at number one and worked my way back on that bank. The further back I got the louder it got. I would say cylinder #3 is my culprit. I could also hear it by scoping the end of the collector pipe.

Do you let your truck idle a lot?

I have a friend who worked for TxDOT and they had a huge Ford fleet. Guy's abuse the hell out of those trucks. He said if you let the 5.0L idle all day (which tons of guys using fleet trucks do) it would burn a quart of oil the same day, but if you ran it regularly and shut it off at appropriate times, it experienced no consumption. He also said they had a HUGE stockpile of full synthetic Pennzoil for that reason, and a few other reasons specifically.

I'll be very interested to see what blackstone finds. Make sure they know that when you took your sample that your overall sump volume was different, they'll account for it.

Luckily where I live, a town away there is a shop that deals almost exclusively with Ford and Chevy vehicles. They do plenty of regular things --- all the way up to heavily, heavily modified street, race, and track cars. It's unfortunate you're probably not from around my area...Cause I'm confident they could get to the bottom of your issue much faster, and for much less money than a dealership or any other less familiar shop can.

I wouldn't say I'd let it idle a lot. I use my truck to respond to emergencies in my area (fire dept), and the longest time it would be at idle at one time in an extreme case- say a structure fire would be approx 2hrs depending on different things obviously. I find the truck actually quite hard on fuel when it's idling, so I try not to let it sit at idle for extended periods.

There was a spot on the Blackstone paperwork to identify basically a low oil level. I'm in Nova Scotia, and there really aren't too many specialty shops for engines. Only really one in Halifax, that I know of. My truck is still under warranty and every time it goes to Ford, they cannot hear anything. Some days it's very audible. We're talking from MANY feet away. When I brought it into my shop today, it wasn't extremely loud like it usually is, but I could hear it. That's why I got my scope out and started prodding around.

Reinspected my filter this morning after it sitting over night. I actually found some shiny particles! How to proceed at this point I'm not sure...take it to the dealer perhaps? Hang on to it until my next oil change? I just don't know!

Bit of an update: Here is what Blackstone had to say:

Thanks for the note about the noise. Based on these results, we don't see any obvious
explanation for it. Your metals line up nicely with the far right column, which shows typical wear for this type of Ford engine after about 9,100 km of oil use. We aren't sure how long this oil was in use, but if it was a significantly shorter interval, then maybe iron could be considered elevated, but even so, 16 ppm isn't enough to call a problem. Monitor the noise in case it gets worse. No contamination was found and the viscosity was fine for a 5W/20. Looks okay from our end!

The past 2 mornings after a remote start and I'm walking towards my truck it is starting to sound like a wood pecker lol. I left a msg with ford today but never heard back. I called a reputable engine building company in Halifax, and explained the noise and what I had found in my oil filter housing. He told me that the coyote is still too new, and that they haven't seen one as of yet. He had no explanation of the sand like material in my filter housing. And to top it all off, my check engine light came on lastnight after fire training, and it was a p2272, which I THINK is the post cat driver's side...I think lol. I was going to erase the light, but figured I should leave it on, and let warranty take over. It just drives me nuts seeing that light in my truck....

Update time........my truck is scheduled in at yet another ford dealer. I had sent them my video and they say there is a problem without a doubt!! First time the dealer said there was an issue without the truck even being there..............

Fingers crossed.........oh, ya- plus it's got a bad wheel bearing in the rear so it's another warranty trip anyways lol

Holy crap a 4 year old with 1 arm could do a better shock install job.
That is a super simple thing to do.
Shows the level of competence at their shop.
Sorry to hear about your truck.

Update........

I sent another dealer my video and took the truck in for diagnosis among other things to be addressed under warranty.

The noise that I heard in the rear was the diff. They replaced all bearings in pinion, and carrier. They said it was pretty bad. And once again they didn't hear the noise. Surprise surprise. When i picked my truck up I was reading over the work order and it said my low speed shudder was fixed with the rear diff work. When I pulled out of the lot I felt it. Wasn't fixed.

A few days ago I left work early to go back. I even took my mechanics stethoscope DETERMINED someone there would hear the noise. I ended up getting the service manager. He came for a road test with me for the shudder and told me he was going to order in a raptor trans mount. I did read somewhere that they were stiffer and fixed some peoples shudder. After the road test we then moved on to the engine noise. My truck was in a quiet streak noise wise so you'd really had to listen. Hence, my scope. I put it on the collector pipe and I asked him to listen to what I was hearing. He right away said, no need. My heart sank at first, but right away I say, do you hear it? He says...yes. Well well well, someone at the dealer is admitting the noise is not "normal".

Long story short, I get an email from him on Thursday, and he said the mount was in, and that based on his info this time, was that the fix for my noise was a short block but he wanted to try a couple other things first.

So that's where I am with my noise. The dealer has now officially said motor. Thoughts?

I really think too it depends on the one listening having good hearing health. some people are actually more death than others as funny as that sounds, but a scope isolating the cylinder should clear that up. sounds like you are headed in the right direction if he doesn't go back peddling.
