I know it's an old thread, but has anyone been able to get ford to solve this problem? I have a 2014 f150 fx4 with the same problem and so far ford keeps telling me that the spec for range is 30 ft if in line of site in good conditions.

Nope, you gotta solve it yourself. Factory starters have always and likely will always be crap. Get an aftermarket starter. I recommend compustar, about $400 for a two way system with a 1 mile range. Problem solved.

Mine does the same thing from time to time, usually right after I open the hood for checking, I unplug and reconnect the hood switch and that fixes it.

Also pop open the fob and reseat the battery, those are the two things that make mine work again when it acts up.

I'm tempted to get the phone app system, you could be around the other side of the planet and make it start but it comes with a premium price.

Oh and one other thing, the people at the dealer you took it to are idiots, you do not need line of sight, I use mine from inside the building where I work and probably about 50-75ft away, it uses radio frequency to transmit, albeit a weak one.

my long range works dam good. It sucked at first only cause the key fob battery was dead out of the box. new battery and truck starts from good distances inside buildings.

As I stated earlier it comes with a premium, only after you buy the hardware you have a $50/yr fee for the service.

I installed one in my edge and we did one in my buddy's new F150. Plug and play install and this the only way to go, I can literally start my car from anywhere.

Did you have any problems a while back with it not working like the people on the app install thread?

Just wanted to let you guys know after only about 50 emails, Facebook messages, and posting on every ford forum I could find, ford agreed to split the cost of the cellular remote start.
