OBD2 Scanner

OBD2 Scanner
I am looking into an OBD2 scanner (NOT A TUNER) that has Bluetooth capability that I can have several different Apps to choose from setup to read on my iPhone. I want the scanner to be able to read any codes that I may encounter in the future, also it will give me info that would be nice to have ( boost pressure, acceleration force, plus many others) Couple questions...
1) will this work on EcoBoost engines or just because it is an OBD2 port should it work regardless of what engine you have?
2) I know people will throw out the "Void Warranty" card out there, but this is no way shape or form a tuner, it is strictly a reader, scanner, information display! Are there any ACTUAL Ford techs out there than can say wether or not Ford will frown on plugging in a scanner into the OBD2 port? Thanks!

Boost :)
Iphone can not do that via Bluetooth. Only Android can do that via Bluetooth. Iphone requires it to be done via WiFi which increases the price substantially as the WiFi OBD2 scanners are much more expensive than Bluetooth. The Iphone just simply will not transmit or receive data like that via Bluetooth.
DashCommand and Rev are two very popular apps, but again very expensive. I used DashCommand and was not impressed for a $50 dollar app. Rev apparently is better though, I just haven't used it.
There are several WiFi OBD2 scanners out there, but the best is the PLX Kiwi WiFi unit. Over $100 bucks for it, but that is pretty much what you are going to find with these types of scanners.
Unfortunately it's not as easy as a BT dongle and Torque app like Android
I use a laptop based OBD2 scanner and it is just that. A READER. Nothing that will cause any warranty issues. Period.

Check this thread out:

You just need to find an app for the i-phone
Edit - TJ beat me to it with better information - didn't realize iPhone doesn't work with the BT capabilities

Boost :)
They work with any OBD2 based vehicle. The PID's or parameters and data they show, will be different. I haven't found one yet that shows the boost pressure and things like that, but I know there are some out there that do. The ones I have will not without purchasing additional "enhanced PID" information from the supplier.

I use Torque (Droid X and Zoom) and a ELM327 BT adapter and it works great. OBDII is a US standard and will work with any 1996 or newer vehicle. It will not void any warranty.
Torque will give any standard OBD stat as well as a fairly accurate 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. superbleeder put out a pretty good youtube video you will find on the thread listed above.
Every Iphone user has the same complaint about the price of the app's that will work with it though.

A ScanGuage II will do the job without a phone. I have one and can't imagine trying to use my phone for that as it would take my eyes off the road too much. The ScanGuage sits on my dash and I get what I need with just a glance.

Cajun I hope you are able to find a cheap obdII wireless device. As previous members have posted you need to look into the "REV" app for the ipod. You cannot use the bluetooth obdII hookups. We as Iphone holders have to use a LAN Wireless OBDII addapter. More expensive of course. If you have a jailbroken Iphone, let me know and i will make suggestions how to get the rev app at a discount, ie free. I want to know if it will work for a boost gauge on the ecoboost engine also. Just bought my truck and cant afford all the accessories i want just yet.
