Default Hopefully easy electrical fix

OK all...wiring LED lights inside Cab of '13 SCrew.
I wanted these to work in 2 different ways..first with interior lights when's doors open etc. Got that part...I hit the gray/purple stripe wire on passenger side. DONE and works correctly.
My second thought to turn on was directly from battery so I could turn them on and off anytime.
I bought a SPDT switch as told here but
ISSUE is this, No LED lights when I flip switch to battery side. I can pull off connectors and touch battery wire and LED wire..nothing. Now I noticed when I touch to this wire it feeds the stock interior white lights. They come on but LEDs don't.
Again LED's seem to be wired perfectly..they work as on/off for interior door open lighting but not from battery.
Any ideas please????
Bad switch maybe but things are the same when I switch poles on switch.

need a couple diodes , your batt wire is back feeding the interior/dash lights..

quick pic, should help understand what is happening..

I agree but don't understand. Wouldn't a good switch stop this from back feeding? And why wouldn't the LED's at least flicker when I touch the wire and whites lights up.
Sort of lost here?

I will follow your advice but need more info. What kind of diode? Are these a size thing? Don't laugh I'm not good with electrical that goes beyond the very simple stuff.

after some searching...my thoughts, your interior lighting should be less amps than a headlight curcuit so a diode of this size should be fine..leds use less amps as well..this will act as a blocker and stop the backfeed to the other lights and only allow your leds on the switch, and with the doors-with or without the switch being on.

This will explain diodes a bit... a 1N4001 is a common diode that would work for you

where did you wire the leds on the switch? they should be on the middle prong, what do you mean pull of connector and touch wire?

I have battery wire to top blade of switch. Gray/purple wire to bottom blade and middle blade wire goes out to the LED's.

do you have a test light? Also where did you wire the led negative wire to?

can you clarify "I can pull off connectors and touch battery wire and LED wire..nothing. Now I noticed when I touch to this wire it feeds the stock interior white lights."

you did grab the positive (red) direct from battery right?
