Yeah, now you need some cab clearance lights and a CB and you will be a big time trucker. Oh, don't forget the stacks!

Dude, what a waste of money and let a cop here those and you will end up in the slammer

Jail time for train horns?

I agree they're dumb, but he's not going to get jail time. Unless of course he scares some old guy giving him a heart attack...which could be considered man slaughter...

I had considered train horns on my Dually, laughed about them on the F150. That compressor takes up way too much space, and there isnt enough room to mount a 5 bell horn. I had planned out a nice install on the F350. Move one battery to the other side, bought Optimas just for that purpose. Had a battery box mount for the frame rails underneath. All I needed was a set of horns and the compressor and tank.

Then I got married and had kids, POOF there goes that project!

If I mounted truck horns and clearance lights on the cab, the Mexicans here would steal it. They love trucks decked out like that.

So you end up scaring the heck out of somebody who will then cause a wreck and you will be blamed for it? I am sure they'd call that gross negligence at the least, on purpose / with intent would be more likely and worse.
You paid how much? I don't know, it does not seem to be worth it. What for and when do you plan on using these?

From what I've heard, some of the "idiots" with these horns, sit by railroad crossings waiting for semis to come along then blare the horn causing the truckers to slam on the brakes or worse.
Other than that most just think they are "cool" cause they have loud horns.

Not necessarily.
Depends on when / how he is planning on using them. That's why I asked. It could well be somebody else's life & money.
If he's honking in his garage by his house out in the woods somewhere until he is deaf then you are right, it is his money and ears. Somehow I doubt that that's the plan though ....

120-140 db is considered to produce a pressure that is felt as pain.
