But hey, you like changing oil, more power to you. If you're gonna change at 3-4k, do yourself a favor and buy conventional oil too that's even cheaper insurance!
Well let me say this...having been on a couple of drag racing teams and NASCAR teams in my past I can without a doubt tell you that oil can look/smell whatever like it's brand new....and even after one run down or around the track and tear the engine back down it can amaze you the bearing, lifter, ring, etc particles that have accumulated after a short time! Much less after 3/4/5k miles! I wouldn't want those particles floating around in my $40k truck! Not to mention the fact that these race teams used the very best oil and filters possible! So if it happens there you know it happens in regular engines!

I have a 3 year service plan. I change it every 5k now, but will likely change it every 7500 after the service plan is over. But I will switch it to full synthetic from the synth blend that the dealer has been putting into it. That's just me though. I'm sure it doesn't really need it, but I already have the service warranty, so I'm gonna use it every 5k.

Default Oil change interval.

It ain't the oil that needs changing, it's the filter. Cheap-o filters cause most oil related issues. Once the internal bypass opens up, you might as well not have a filter in the system. The "average" cheap oil filter will not last as long as the effectiveness of the oil. I sometimes wonder why a guy will fork over the cost of high quality synthetic oil and use a two buck oil filter with it. Darn trucks cost too much to risk damage that a couple of extra bucks for a quality filter will prevent. Just my two cents worth.

It will die right after the I can't use the Search function, so let's ask the same question that's been asked hundreds of times on the forum...

I put about 10k miles per year on the truck, so I do an oil change every 6 months or so.

I run amsoil and an Amsoil filter. I reset the OLM when it says change oil soon. Then I run it until it says to change it again and I change it.

I work at a ford dealership and I have heard that if you run fords motocraft oil which is synthetic blend and there filters then you should be fine with what the vehicle said on the dash ford recommends every 8 thousand miles which is in my books crazy I just bought a 2014 f150 5.0 and I did my first oil change at 2800 miles that first oil change is going to be one of the dirtiest I drive an average of 2000 miles a month so I'm going to do oil changes every 6 thousand
