Default New F150 owner

Finally purchased an F150 Lariat screw 4x4 with max trailer tow package. It is a 2010 with 77k on it, one owner. This is my first truck so getting used to driving something this big, lol. Was well cared for oil chaned every 3k to 4k by the dealer. Trying to confirm some other services that didn't show up on the car fax.

One thing I need help with is we didn't notice this on the test drive but when we got it home, about an hours drive away, when I would make turns there is s slightl chatter in the rear end. So I get online and see all of the issues with the ls rear ends on these. Is this possibly a bad rear end? Does it only show up after driving for awhile? Not sure when the fluid had been changed so thought about starting there.

I did call the sales manager back and he told me it is probably just the ls kicking in. Like I said, I am new to trucks and that doesn't seem like it should happen. Funny though, I don't seem to notice it all the time. The manager told me he was confident there was nothing wrong but if we were unhappy we could bring it back and get our old car back. It was an as is deal. We really don't want to do that as we really like this truck and it is very nice. We bought it to pull our 3500# pop up better.

Any rough idea what a repair would cost?

Appreciate any advice! Thanks

Her she is

It may just need a fluid change and some friction modifier additive?

What exactly do you mean by "chatter"? A Clunk, whine, hum......?

If it were me I would take it back and have them fix it.

Don't notice any clunking. Can hear a faint whine if you have the radio off and ac off. Doesn't seem to do it going straight. I guess I would describe it as a light binding or grabbing as you start to go. It doesn't seem very bad. Just noticeable. It also doesn't do it right away. You have to have driven the truck a bit. Drive it this morning and it was fine leaving town. Got into the neighboring small town 10 miles away and made a couple of turns and noticed it.

They have basicly given me the option of returning it if I am not satisfied because it has gone through all of their inspections and checked out ok and the truck was sold as is. The were a good dealer to work with and I do feel we got a good deal on the truck for the overall condition.

Exclamation

If its really bugging you, I'd take it back since you've been offered the options.

The dealer will probably not look into it or fix it free of charge.

Most dealers would not have offered the option of bringing it back and getting your old vehicle back. that's was "AS IS/NO WARRANTY" means.

Well I guess that is what we are trying to decide. What is the worst case scenario if it is this clutch pack thing I have read about. We do really like the truck. I am just so new to a truck I have no idea what a repair like that might run.

Appreciate the feedback.
