my 6 speed is fantastically perverse.......
20 mpg empty at 70 is not to shabby and it handles the trailer pretty well

Why not an automatic two speed rear differential? Currently it could turn the current 6 speed into 12. To heck with 8. If everyone else is thinking 8 well, you gotta one up them.

If they change to CVT that will be my last F150. I hate CVT and they are expensice as hell to repair. My wife has a Nissan with one PIMA.

I drive a JD 8130 with a svt trans and I have no complaints, but I have never driven a car with one. I just hope they get the bugs worked out before they put the 8 speed into production. My 08 is a great truck and I have no complaints, so I'm going to sit back and see what they do next.

Drove a 2011 Nissan Maxima with the CVT and was very impressed...of course, i don't have to fix it when it broke...

I need to drive something with a CVT trans besides a tractor to get a better idea about them anyway.

Don't know how I feel about the 8 speed. If they somehow work it out nicely, then I say go for it. From what I've seen more gears means the engine is an indecisive B@&#£. Hopefully ford will get it right before they make it available.
