I will look into other vendors. I want the tint to go an inch below the black line on windshield.

Look into other vendors... The only reason they WON'T do it is legality or they CAN'T do it because they don't know the proper method.

Looking at my truck, it looks like whomever did it removed the mirror from the mirror mount and simply cut around the aluminum piece and put the mirror back on. It's very well done.

I had a Focus and had the entire windshield tinted with 50%. They did not remove the mirror and I could not tell that they didn't. I would personally not want a tint shop to remove anything from my truck.

I can't speak for the tint... but taking the mirror off can be a touch tricky.
I had my windshield replaced due to a stone chip, and the windshield place kinda monkeyed up my rear view mirror.

The mount has metal springs, essentially, inside which keep the mirror tight to the windshield mount. After prying the mirror off, it appears as though these springs can become stretched, or loosen up.

I ended up buying a tool called mirror stick:
It's pretty easy to do with this thing. Unfortunately, I think $20 is a lot to pay for stupid piece of plastic, but sure is handy to have.
Good luck,
-Matt

I met with the tint guy yesterday. He was at Americas Truck and Hitch. He is going to call me next time he's in the area.

I don't like the sun in my eyes coming from the top of the windshield. Not a big fan of using my sun visors in my truck either. Like the way it looks also. Will try and post a pic.
