I've had my Polk db57s for about 3 years now. Still running strong and sound great with my pioneer avh-p3300bt.

I put Pioneer TS-A665R in my 12 and jvc HEAD unit and a Kenwoo subwoofer behind seat and it sounds nice

I had polk db571 in my focus in my opinion the pioneer sound better for alot less money

Beside adding power, AMPS big advantage is attenuating the signal sent to speakers. You do not want high frequencies sent to sub-woofers and vice versa...low frequencies sent to your tweeters. A good amp will have adjustments to attenuate the frequencies that each speaker will work off of...
