Update on using amp research power module and harness with power OEM steps.
After months of research and deciding to actually the 200$ on the harness and module from AMP. I finally decided to take the hit. And thank god it worked. I will post pictures and AMP product numbers later.
I have to say that it is a great feeling when the guys at the ford dealership trip out when the steps come out on a 2013 KR. I have them working for about a week now and all is fine. Can't complain. 200$ for power running boards. Ask any questions I'll be happy to answer.

I found a set of "broken" running boards on Craigslist for cheap, with the hopes of using other OEM parts, like Mrocha85. After reading through everything, I just ordered the AMP Research controller, and wiring harness. I tore apart the "bad" motor to actually find nothing wrong.
I wired up the harness, snipped the ends off the AMP harness for the motor, and wired it directly to the OEM motor. (there are 5 wires in the OEM connector, but you only use 2)
Looks great, and they work perfect. Thanks guys for your effort figuring this out!
One thing I did notice was the "bad" step was pretty stiff to open originally. As I was sorting out the motor, I also cleaned the hinges, and greased them, working the hinges thoroughly, until it was smooth. Since the motor works off resistance, it makes me wonder if the problem was never electrical, as both steps work great now.
Since ford does not service these, they would not know. And the seller was just trying to dump them, because he did not want to pay $1800 for a new step...

Would you be able to post the model numbers of the amp research harness and power module? I picked up a set of OEM steps for $300 and would love to get them on the truck!
Thanks
Thanks

Controller is 19-03297-B05
Harness is 19-03694-90
I called Amp Research and told their support what I was doing. They were more than helpful and I ordered the controller and harness straight from them. Thanks again OP.

Can someone help me out, purchased a set of oem boards and motors, and now running into an issue, unfortunately when I called amp research to order the parts above, I didn't have as much support with them like others have had, they asked why I need replacements..I told them and put me on the phone with an engineer there who told me all the safety reasons why they can't sell them to me. They told me it could cause damage to the oem ford motors over time and create safety issues with the difference in voltage and so forth.. And the ways their product and ford is different. Long story short they won't sell me parts any recomdations on what I can do now?

Ecoford,
If you have a "Cap-It" store in your area they are an authorized Amp Research dealer. Ask them to order the parts for you. They shouldn't ask any questions.

It's so odd that y'all are having any issues with amp. When I did mine I explained what I was doing and what I wanted for my truck and they helped me with no problems. Hell I even had a guy call back about two weeks after I ordered the parts just to ask if it worked.
