Default Need to flush radiater

Hello I have a 2009 F-150 4x4 with 4.6L. I attempted to flush the cooling system and could not find the drain valve that is usually present at the bottom corner of the radiator. My question is if there is not a valve to drain the engine coolent how do I remove the engine coolent short of removing a radiator hose?

Without removing the lower radiator hose, there really isn't another way.

To do a proper cooling system flush you will need to remove the T-stat during the flush and have your heat turned on...this will allow the entire system to be flushed...quickest way to empty the system is to remove the lower hose. You can suck out your power steering fluid while your waiting on the flush to work.

Lightbulb

Would recommend a flush kit .....
  • don't have to remove the thermostat.
  • don't have to remove the radiator hose.
  • will have to splice-into a heater hose.

If I don't find a radiator drain the Local Napa auto parts store should have a flush kit. Thanks!

And contaminate it with tap water, no thank you! Tap water should never be used in the coolant system!

Wow there is no drain valve at the bottom of the radiator. I'm pretty sure this will be the last Ford product i buy.

Did a T-Stat change on a 2010 Tahoe last week and it never had one either.
