Jumped from 13 to 14
Some folks have already told me I'm crazy for doing this, but I traded my white 13 for a silver 14 this week. I looked at GMC and Chevy but nothing they had impressed me so I'm back in a new Ford. $56k sticker, I paid $45k out the door. My payments actually went down even though this truck has more options. I almost didn't trade the 13 since I already had a buyer for it, but after they told me what they'd take for their truck without mine in the deal I through it in just to see what they'd offer and they still showed me some equity so I dumped it on them. I could have waited for the 15 to show up and pay full price but I was after a new truck, not a new image. I'll take the $12k I saved and buy something to pull behind the truck.
You wouldn't think the two trucks would be any different but you'd be wrong. The 14 is quieter, the screen resolution for the backup camera is higher, the stereo sounds better, the seats have some additional stitching in the head rests and seat backs that I like better and for some reason it feels like it rides better but that could just be the tires. The silver / blue is a much better color combo to me, I never liked that white on my 13 anyway. Best of all my aftermarket accessories fit on the new truck so I kept everything. I'm still using all the stuff I paid good money for like my bak-flip. Waiting for a 15 or going with another brand would have left me with a bunch of craigslist ads to run.
I put 25k miles on my 13 in 18 months, averaged about 16.2 mpg for the duration and I still had the original 22" tires on it when I traded it. They were close to failing inspection though so next year I would have had to replace them. Overall I'm happy but as always time will tell...
