Default Nav, Sync, and a PTT phone

We have AT&T cell phones with push to talk. I had to pick the wife up the other night from work and she contacted me with ptt. My phone was sync'd with the truck and her voice came through the unit like she made a call. The bad part is that I couldn't talk back to her. Now to figure out how to make it so I can talk back. lol...

click on the "Phone" button on the dash next to the NAV screen and make sure that the "Privacy" button is not selected.

I had sync on my 09 escape and Nextel PTT but no Nav. Same thing. What I found was I could talk back through the speakers (also in privacy mode) but only by holding the PTT button to talk and it worked that way. It would be nice that when in PTT mode there would be a button you could push on the steering wheel but doubt they're going to do that.

Didn't realize the PTT worked through bluetooth. My company is looking at getting them... can't wait

Hi All,

On my BB 8350i with Nextel PTT, the phone shows a circle and bar through the PTT logo on the screen. When I disconnect from the SYNC connection by distance, the PTT on the phone works perfectly.

But I actually have to get a pretty good distance away for the PTT to release. I intitally thought my BB was broken until I figured out that that is just what it does.... I have the latest version of the SYNC (with the factory NAV) and all other features are working great with the BB in the truck....BTW, I have never gotten a PTT chirp when the BB is SYNCED to the truck.

So if I need the have the PTT feature with me, I will just have to bring my work Nextel...unless someone can figure out something I'm not doing right...

TIA,

JJ

Well, I was ready for her tonight. She hit the ptt button and it came through the sync system. This time I had my phone in the cup holder of the console instead of my pocket. I picked up the phone and talked back using my ptt button and all worked well. So, at least for AT&T you can use ptt through the sync system but you still have to use the phone ptt button to transmit. I can live with it.
