I got word yesterday that Ford has told them to short block it and replace the cams.

It will be well into next week, making it THREE weeks

I'll be making a truck payment soon on a vehicle I haven't had to use for more than half the month.

I'm starting to feel really bad about going back to Ford from Chevy

Just wait till the noise comes back in a few hundred KM's. Then you'll be pissed.

I sent two PMs to you and have gotten no reply

I got my truck back with the new engine. Hopefully everything will be ok from here on out.

How about a report from some of you others in this thread who were taking your trucks in for the same issue?

What has been your experience?

I have to say thats a crappy thing to have happen but the fact they had your truck that long and did everything they could to figure it out and ended up replacing your short block im not really seeing how you could be saying your going back to chevy? they could have said it was normal and sent you on your way. but they did not and owned up and basically gave you a new engine.

I think it's something to do with the torque convertor. It also does it in ANY gear (using select shift), and reverse.

I'm not to worried about it. Please keep us in the loop as to what they find.
your forgetting about engine load. when the truck is in gear and revved up you have a load on the engine.

in park and neutral there is no load. sounds like you truck knocks under load.

Do I feel lucky or fortunate that they replaced my knocking engine with metal shavings in the pan? No, that was the least they should have done. They made a bad product and sold it to me. They fixed it, so to me they at least kept up with the promise of quality and warranty, but it would have been better to have had the engine for 125K trouble free miles, like my old Chevy did but that didn't happen. I am disappointed in Ford's engine quality, but like I said, they addressed it and fixed it. I still like the rest of my truck, the body, interior and features, that's why I bought it.

after reading up on the GM ignition switches killing over a dozen people, maybe my engine knock wasn't so bad after all.

I have to say after having my truck back for almost a week, I sure did miss having it for a month. I hope I don't have any more major issues with it.

So you think Ford or Chevy are going to make 100% trouble free trucks? There is always going to be a percent of vehicles with problems. The fact they owned up and fixed it is what you should be happy about. Even chevy's can have bad engine quality. Your being pretty naive if you think every chevy made goes 125K+
