Quit a few especially if you have personally experienced for customer lack of service and its your truck. You obviously have had a wonderful experience and will never complain about your F@rd vehicle. Heaven forbid you should ever feel totally lost when you've spent 40+ thousand on a vehicle only after having an issue only to be told ... we haven't see this before or it's normal. Good luck, hope we all have the experience you do and pray we never run across you @.. when you have an issue if all you can complain about is others true experiences. Good luck with getting support from others or even the Fiord reps, and at 239 posts you must have amassed an incredible amount of experience with the 2009+. Personally owning a 2010 and 2011 and 2013 last one ever, I may have never seen Fiord have an issue. Look at the 2013 1.6L Fiord engine on how many recalls now, it is pathetic reeks like the GM issues. Hopefully you have an Ecoboost like me cause my 5.0 had the knock that was normal. Oddly besides the reverse clunk which got fixed, my Eco has been the best of all F150 I have owned breaking the trend of the Ecoboost is the trouble truck. That said this is my last Fiord, back to the Japs after this broken few years.

lets say they end up replacing the engine, or at least the block and heads. Do you guys think the warranty should be extended based on the miles already on the truck?

If it doesn't knock when idling in park, why do they think it's an engine issue? The knock completely goes away if you put the truck in park.

I guess when it's in drive.., theirs a slight load on the engine? Is that what they are thinking?

Did they put a stethoscope on the engine and pinpoint it there?

It's probably because of cylinder distortion

Cylinder distortion causes a knock at idle, in park. From what I understand from OP's post..., this is a thump thump thump sound only when the truck is in DRIVE. I've had the knocking sound at idle in my RAM, and it was caused by cylinder distortion, and this sound seems to be alot LOWER of a thump.

The metal in the pan is the symptom of something very wrong.

Gotcha. I'm wondering if the noise at idle in park is the same thumping noise when in drive. Moot point i guess.

I've decided to leave these "knocking" issues alone in my truck. I had a 2012 Dodge Ram 5.7 that knocked at 600 miles. They replaced the engine 3 times and the knock would ALWAYS return at 600 miles. So, at that point, I had a brand new truck that knocked with 3 new engines in it, instead of a brand new untouched truck with a slight knock.

today makes it two weeks that my truck has been in the shop for this engine problem.

While I do have a loaner truck to drive, it's not my truck. I can't tell you how many times I've needed something from my tool box or missed my Sirius Radio. I'm getting really tired of this crap.
