Makes perfect sense to me.

My buddy has an 05 Duramax.

I've towed the exact same trailer loaded exactly the same, around 6k I would say, on the exact same route with my 11 Ecoboost and his truck and I couldn't really tell much difference. Thats with me driving his truck too FYI.

I dont like the instant gauge, I go by the trip gauge seems to be more accurate from my calculations.

Thats not babied.

A person can easily drive an ecoboost without ever getting over 2500 RPM

I find my truck does a lot better on fuel at 70. I can usually get 17-18 MPG. If I do 80 I get like 15 MPG.

I have tough time doing it when the speed limit is 75 here, but I try to just slow down and the cruise. Saves $$$

Non ethanol is better. I try to never use ethanol if I can help it.

We have one station in town that sells non ethanol so thats the only place I buy.

There Is NO replacement for a diesel. But IMO the ecoboost is as close as your ever going to get thanks to cafe and other reasons to a diesel 1/2 ton. When I first got my truck I was really pissed I didnt get a 6.2 liter as I hated (still do) how it sounds, and how much of a dog it is off the line empty and loaded. But It has really grown on me, especially after hooking up to loads I normally used a 2500HD duramax for, its not as good, but for a 1/2 ton im very impressed, and the day to day comfort is night and day from the duramax which rides like a garbage truck. Still sluggish from a light (same feel whether I push the peddle 10% or 100%) But get it above 10 mph and it takes off pretty well. I am very hard to impress, and I think the ecoboost is slow, but I also thought my vette was slow when it was stock.

best I have ever seen on my ecoboost is a 1hr trip at 60mph with some rolling hills with non-ethanol premium gas, I had it at 27mpg on instant gauge for about 20 miles then the hills started it dropped to 23mpg, but that was far from ordinary driving I was trying to keep the green bar up top the entire time, I spent more time looking at the bar then the road. Sometime I wish the MPG gauges were not there I wouldn't care how I drive it, all I do now is try to keep the bar up top.
