Mirror Caps
So I was thinking about painting my mirror caps and was wondering how exactly to get them off - read something in another post about prying off the mirror which gives you access to the fasteners that hold them on but wasn't sure about prying on the power mirrors...? Anyway I scrounged around here and on another forum but didn't really find anything helpful. Anyone done this or know how?

Tilt down the top of the mirror so you can get in behind it. theres not much room but it works. get a small flathead and gently pry on the clips holding the glass to the motor, eventually it will start to come loose, then wedge flathead between motor and glass to pry it off. go easy, because the clips are fragile. once the mirrors off there are 4 torqs head screws, remove them and then you can remove the front cover of the mirror. then there are 4 clips holding the cap to the cover.

Wiring in some LED's behind reflector
I am P/O'd at Ford for putting stupid reflectors on the mirror fronts instead of having turn indicators on both the front and the back bottom. Would it be possible to pull the mirror out, take off the back, and wire in some LED's into the same wire that operates the back LED's or would the current draw be to much ?

Yep, that's the procedure. I had them painted at the dealer, it was $100 for the pair.
