So I lifted up the vinyl floor on my 2013 STX and was surprised to find the matting under the floor was soaking wet! Seems like a recipe for rot, mildew, etc to me. Well I brought this to a local ford dealer (Gervais Ford in Ayer MA) only to get told that this was not something they could bill ford for and wanted me to pay for hours of labor.

I bought my truck in MA too. The dealer was great on the initial deal, but the service department has not impressed me yet. I'm taking it to a dealer in central NY near my Dad's place when I have issues. They are great to work with.

So, did you JUST buy the truck and notice this or have you had it a while and just notice it???????????????????????????????????????????

Sorry about that. No the truck is just over a year old. 25K on the clock. The only reason i noticed this is that i was running a wire for a backup camera and when I lifted up the carpet to run the wire it was soaking wet.

Well the dealer did a leak test and could not find anything. So they are telling me I am **** out of luck if theres no leak theres no way to bill ford. Clearly there is an issue here with water providing a recipe for rust and mildew. I cannot understand how this is not covered.

Because if they can't source a leak for all they know you hose out the vinyl floor in your truck every weekend.... that's why. Just dry it out yourself...

Well Bad does have a good point however I seriously doubt you wouldn't have thought about that if you did happen to rush water inside the truck to clean the floor! So I will go out on a whim and say,,, Yuke,,, you do have a leak problem!

Now comes the problem that many here complain about... the dealer always reverts back to the ..... Dahhhhhh,,,,, I can't get it to do it,,, so I can't fix it!!

You could try another dealer or do what I would do.....

Lift up the flooring and start outside with a hose!
Concentrate on a small area and keep checking the floor. Make sure you give it ample time in between moving to another spot as it may take time to work its way down.

Also check out the main reasons *areas* where people have reported known leaks!

Of course once you find it then drive it to the dealer, show them.... and then have them fix it,,,, of course as you know fixing the leak is just one problem.... they will need to remove that flooring and install new or in time it will stink you out! And when I say in time,, I am not talking years... You are still in a cold climate and once summer hits,,, the stink will hit you big time! I still don't understand why they still use that crap! I know to deaden sound and add padding but rubber would do the same thing and never mold or mildew!!!

Found a leak in my Mustang,, how did I know I had a leak?? Well you found it by running wires and I found it when I came out on a nice hot day and wow!!! That god I have a convertible... the top went down as soon as I started it and needless to say,,, I ripped all that crap out the next day, and found and fixed the leak!

...and see if it comes back. Check it after any water event like washing, rain, driving on a wet road, typhoon, hurricane, blizzard, tsunami, tidal wave, cats and dogs, etc.

As stated above, if they can't find the source, then they can't write it up and bill Ford. So, you'll have to replicate it for them, unless, of course, you are hosing out your truck. Supposing you don't hose out your truck, the water could be getting in from the top, the bottom, or the sides. Maybe a little water test of your own is in order.

Maybe tell us more detail... where was it located?? which side, front or back, screw or scab? The reason is when someone reads this they may be able to tell you where to look. I know most of my reading through threads relate to the P/S floor,,, with anything from sat antenna, windshield seal, sunroof, door seal and pillar seam leak. I really don't remember reading anything on the D/S?

must be a pretty new problem or you would have noticed a damp musty smell. have you had your windshield replaced recently? where do you live? sometimes snow piles on hood area and then melts and runs in around fresh air intake. just do your own investigation with a water hose, check satellite antenna, rear brake and bed light. this will save you headache of dealing with warranty work. i only take my truck in for things i can't fix or expensive repairs, anything under $100 i repair myself. more of hassle and time taking it in than what it is worth.
