Default Between NAPA, AutoZone, and O'Reilly who has the Best Brakes?

I am needing front brakes for my truck (sig) and was wondering between the three parts stores listed, who has the best brakes? The stock rotors warped on me and my pads are down to less then 2mm so I will need them soon. I am not going to cheap out and will go with the best that each has to offer. They are all pretty close in price.

All of the trucks here at work have Duralast Max pads and rotors on them and the guys seem to like them. I have also heard a lot of good things about the NAPA brakes. O'Reilly is a new player in town and have not heard much about them.

I am somewhat hard on the brakes. I do a fair amount of stop and go traffic and also tow occasionally.

I did see rotordepot, but not sure if I want to go with drilled and slotted rotors. What are the pros and cons of them?

Thank you for any advice. Just trying to get the best from what I have locally.

I never had luck with Auto Zone parts across the board. I've always bought my rotors and pads from O'Reilly. I live in Virginia Beach where brake-slamming is common and they work perfectly, even with a 6,000lb trailer attached.

Ask someone who lives in Pittsburgh PA, the #1 city in the US and Canada that sells the most brake pads, shoes, rotors and drums anywhere.

They will probably tell you NAPA.

Get your brake pads from the dealership, they are the same price as the supposedly premium pads at any parts store unless you go with the heavy duty pads which are $10 more. They won't squeak like aftermarket pads aren't supposed to do, and they don't throw near the amount of brake dust. At least thats been my experience since I quit buying pads from the parts store 7 years ago.

And I quit going to AZ altogether 2 years ago when they gave me the wrong part then told me they couldn't figure out what part I needed that I should go to that place down the street meaning O'Reilly.

Why don't you compare prices with rockauto.com. I just bought powerstop front slotted and drilled rotors and z26 pads for my Mustang gt, great price.

EBC drilled and slotted rotors with yellow or green pads and stainless brake lines.

My truck is over 6000lbs and on 37's - stops better than stock, much better.

Ford offers three levels of front pads, $96 (Super Duty), $83, and $67 (Standard). They also offer two levels of rotors for 6 lug, $117 and $106. Going by that they are the most expensive by quite a bit. I could get the pads from them and get the rotors else where to save a bit and get better ones.

I have had good luck with AZ, but I always take the part number that I need in with me. I work parts so I understand what it is like.

I normally buy from specialty shops online not the "cookie cutter" auto parts store that usually carry the "ma-pa" brake pad for the Avg. user.
I consider AZ, NAPA, PepBoys, and such the "ghetto" of auto parts. Anyplace I can see some dork-***** yanking an alternator out of his vehicle in the middle of an auto parts parking lot...is a place I'm not doing business.

I hadn't thought of them before you mentioned it. I just checked them and the prices are pretty good. The super duty Ford pads are only $59 there and the Z36 Power Stop pads are $45.

I did notice one thing though. I priced the Power Stop Z36 pads and drilled rotors separately at $176. They also offer a kit with the rotors and pads together at $224. That doesn't make sense to me.

What is the pros and cons of the drilled rotors?

Just an FYI, Dont forget that the pads with 2 humps go on the inside and the ones with out the humps on the outside. Pay attention when you pull your old ones off. Plenty of people have put them on backwards. Including the dealer I bought my used truck from. They had put new pads on before they sold me the truck. After about a 1000 miles and always having brake dust on that wheel I pulled the tire and found the outside pad about 70% gone and the others looked new.
