Default 2010 front brakes feel like small rumble strip

My truck had about 2k miles on it when I purchased it. Since the day I've owned it, when I come to a stop, the front brakes feel as if I'm going over a slight rumble strip. I thought they might need to wear in a while, but I'm at 7k now and still get the same feeling. Its very slight, but just enough to realize a slight bumpy feeling. Any one else had this happen to theirs? I believe the brakes were re-done for 2010, but I'd think if anything they would be smoother.

I get the same sensation. It'll be interesting to see if anyone might think there is something wrong.

Sounds like the rotors could be slightly warped. Sometimes it doesn't take much to warp them slightly, like a couple of panic braking events at 70MPH... You can't say for sure how it was driven in that 2,000 miles before you got it. Brakes and other wear items are covered for 1 year/12,000 miles....

I picked mine up brand spanking new about a month ago. There's not even 1000 Km (600 miles)on it yet. Brakes have felt like that from day one.

Thanks for the replies. I did not realize that brakes were only 1 yr or 12000, but it makes sense. Guess I'd better make an appointment with the dealer.

Common sensation, I don't think it is the brakes though. something about the way the trans downshifts as you come to a stop, coupled with the driveline slack and the weird oscillating thing the rear / suspension of the truck does. A friend of mine who works for an off-road suspension genius says that they have tried to eliminate that bounce, but it took a several hundred pound piece of steel bolted to the very back end of the frame to get it to go away (which isn't much help to a race truck). Something about the stiffness of the boxed in frame. Anyway, I doubt your dealer will find anything wrong with your brakes...

Mine was ( and still is ) like it from Day 1. I think it's the brakes. I've quickly figured out that there's a lot of quirks in these Fords.
1. The brake / stopping issue as in this thread
2. The terrible shifting transmission
3. The locking diff / torque converter ( whatever ) that seems to keep revolving after you've stopped.
4. The detents in the front doors that either holds the door too far closed or opened all the way.
Don't know about you fellows, but all these issues take away from the new ownership feeling. I certainly like the truck, but too many annoying issues.

Just got this same issue fixed last friday. my rotors were slightly warped like .03mm on one, all the way 1.2MM on another. got each FP FD RD RP machined down (under warranty) 57,000kms on the truck. my baby stops like the day i drove her off the lot again!

My 2010 4x4 KR exhibits none of these problems.

1. Brakes are smooth and effective.
2. Tranny seems to operate normally...not sure exactly what you're expecting. This is a heavy truck...not a Lexus.
3. Have no idea what you're talking about. Have never noticed anything like this.
4. Door detents have not been a problem either.

My only complaint is with the Pirelli tires. After numerous vibration complaints the dealership has agreed to replace them with Michelins. Love this truck. Ford is doing it right in my humble opinion.
