Default Antenna removal

Do the antennas on the 2010 F150 just un-screw? I'd hate to break it off trying to do that but it seems a little stronger than the past couple of vehicles I've had to remove.

Yeah... And the kid at the carwash already scratched mine (antenna). There's some threadlock on it, so it takes a little effort the first time.

yup. I taped it up and put a wrench on it the first time. It was on pretty tight. Now I just leave it finger tight, so no marks at the carwash...

Mine had something similar to threadlock, but was gooey, hard to remove the first time.

Took mine off with a 10mm open ended wrench....no gooey stuff on mine. Clean threads.

Cut mine off about 4" and epoxied the ball back on to clear my garage door opening. Still gets fantastic reception.

cool, thanks guys! Like I said previous cars came off so easy. I wasn't sure if I should be torquing the hell out of it. But I guess I'll have to.

I know this is old but i thought hey why not make a new thread. Anyone have any experience with radio reception while the antenna is completely removed?

Basically how good is it?

Almost non-existant. I drove around a weekend while the epoxy was curing on my antenna and nothing came in on the radio
