For those of you keeping score...

On to the 4th module. This time the ABS module. Not looking promising...

The Cluster is probably also sustained damage. It is connected at the hip with the ECU.

Agreed.

If any large voltage strike hit a vehicle, it's going to play HELL on any circuit boards , ROM chips, capacitors, resistors, etc on a vehicle. Keeping a ticking time bomb that's worth a large sum of $$$ in running condition and worthless in future possibly non-running liability condition is a bad choice.

Ask yourself this.....
If someone opened up your home big TV flat screen , hooked up jumper cables to a 12V car battery to the main board, watched it spark, and then said it's good to go. Would you trust them ??

All I can honestly say is I hope to GOD that it's reported as a lightning strike repair so that Car Fax shows it to the next possible owner.

Well, after nearly 70 days, it appears the truck will be totaled. 5 pages of error codes led to dozens of sensors, control modules and parts being replaced and we've finally gotten a "no mas".

I truly loved that truck, but I think I'll move in up to a 3/4 ton Ram.

I had a 2006 F350 SRW Lariat that I loved, but my dad had an awful time with the Def system on his 2011 F250 recently, so I'm scared off the Ford diesels for now. I loved the F150, but there are times when I need to pull a gooseneck with a load in excess of my comfort level with a half ton.

Trust me...I was planning on my 11 year old inheriting the F150 at 16, but 1.21 gigawatts changed all that...

Default lightning strike

s coming back from Reel foot Lake fishing trip and was in the worst storm of my life. Lightning was vertical mostly and my truck [2000 F-150,sc,ect,etc.]
was hit. I had my cb on and was using a magnetic base ant. Truck died immediately, smelled like ozone inside the truck. Antenna was dragging on the ground. Truck suffered a small dent in the roof, cb was shot as was the inst. panel, altenator, battery and a whole mess of modules. Luckily, a Ford dealer was open and sent a tow truck, Service manager said such lightning strikes such as mine were common in that area. I unloaded my equipment to my buddies truck, gave the service manager all the needed info. Told him not to do the roof repair and call me when the truck was repaired. Two weeks later I picked the truck up and drove it for two trouble free years then traded it for a new F-150, No more cb radios!

So good luck with the Ram. Let us know how it does.

Several years ago I had a Dodge work van (company provided) and I parked it under a large oak tree. Sometime overnight a storm came thought and it got hit by lightning. The driver's side mirror and window were blasted out and it wouldn't start. I think they ended up replacing the computer to get it running again and after that, there were never any other problems with it. I guess each situation is different though.
