The 5100s are 2.25" at to height, right? Plus a 1" spacer would be 3.25" which IMO is too much with the stock suspension and will probably have ball joints maxed out. I would also expect very little down travel would be available.

Agreed to much articulation on the drive shafts and the ball joints are working overtime , after I installed the fox 2.0 coilovers my driver side cv joint would pop and it sounded like metal grinding when I turned or hit a bump , after my shocks broke in I haven't heard it since , I'm close with all my ford guys at the dealer my mechanic said some dude that bought a raptor put a leveling kit on his truck and fried his front end and they wouldn't cover it under warranty so he asked the guy why the hell would you put a leveling kit on a raptor anyways

I still haven't completely decided if I'm going with Bilstein 5100's or a spacers. I have read through many of the pages on here and somewhat know what I want, just wanted to talk to the installer about leveling the front and then possibly putting blocks in the back. I know how much the spacers cost, honestly the $700 price tag is crazy, $400 seems reasonable, just not sure especially when they told me they don't recommend the bilsteins when so many people on this forum love them.
Bilsteins. Not spacers. You're just creating another breaking point with spacers. As the wheels travels the coilovers get torqued outward or inward slightly, the bucket and the top of the coilspring are designed to take that flex. Adding a spacer in there completely changes how it flexes and puts you at a greater risk for issues down the road. Plus when Billies are $200 and a spacer is $100 why would you cheap out? Bilsteins ride so much better and actually improve handling.

I got mine cost and installation around $600.
Agreed. But you paid A LOT for installation. Local Ford was going to do it for $200. Ended up doing it myself but still.

No. Just no. If you want more lift, go Fox 2.0 and crank them to a max of 2.5". You don't want more if you're 4WD.

Broqsten I'm not a big fan of the stretched tire on crazy offsets. But if you gotta do it, THOSE are definitely the wheels you want to use, looks killer.

So to me, it looks so wrong, but so right.

I'm not an expert but wouldn't that put the ball joints at a bad angle and cause extreme wear?
You'd be lifting a total of 3".

Again, not sure but you should verify just in case.

Ok, I was set on a spacer but now I am getting interested in the Bilstein's. I can't seem to find them for a '14. Does anyone know who carries them for a '14 (or '15 as they are the same)? I really like the option of just replacing the shock and also changing the height if I don't like it at first. Any help is appreciated.

Bilstein doesn't have anything for '14+ right now.

Talk to Alex at F150lifts.com and look at their BOSS line. A tad more coin but worth every dime.

@F150Lifts.com
Thanks for the info. I had already looked at the Boss coil overs. Yeah, kind of expensive. I would really rather put that extra coin towards new tires once I am leveled. Maybe do the spacer first and new tires. Then down the road get the coil overs. Thanks again.

I don't see the benefit of bilsteins over a spacer other than a harsher ride. Maybe I'm wrong but doesn't the bilsteins lift by pre-loading the spring? The angles of your cv joints, ball joints, etc are going to be off either way. I've been running an autospring spacer in my truck for the last year with no issues at all. I have a set of Boss Coilovers to be installed if I ever get around to it. I keep spending my mod $ on other projects. I just ordered a set of PTM fender flares to replace my black textures fx4 ones. That $ should of went into coilover installation!

I had Bilsteins on my last truck - it rode great, much improved over stock. Nothing wrong with spacers, but don't disregard Bilsteins due to ride quality. The ride was very similar to the BOSS coilovers that I have on my current truck.
