I trimmed my front air dam and fender trim behind the wheel with a die grinder.

were you asking me? I had slight rubbing on both ends on the air dam when at full lock. A sawzall too care of that.

Default BOSS coilovers installed!

I was fortunate enough to score a great transaction from Alex F150Lifts.com on a set of BOSS coilovers and BOSS rears. Not an ultimate kit though as I decided against a rear block. Alex and I discussed my wishes for around 1.5" worth of ride height increase and as it turns out I would be the guinea pig for this height. We ended up setting the coils at 4-7/8" from the lowest thread to the bottom of the lock ring/spring perch. This netted me exactly 2" of ride height increase leaving me with 1/4"-1/2" of rake. The ride quality is outstanding as well as Alex's customer/technical support.

I highly suggest the BOSS to anyone looking to level/lift.

Looks great! Thanks for the pics. I'm curious as to what the measurements are on my coilovers now. I had alex set them at approx 2.25" of lift. I will check my measurements on coilovers when I get in from work today. I hope it's not too much lift. I'm currently running a 1.5" autospring and I have noticeable rake, at least half an inch. I'm not a fan of the rake look, but I don't want it to be nose high either. I guess the beauty of the boss coilovers is if we don't like the ride height, just adjust them! Oh yeah, so if mine were set to provide 2.25" of lift, my measurements should be greater than your 4-7/8" correct?

Nice That's a good looking stance. Any plans for bigger tires?

Alex didn't know, as I was the first request for 1.5", so he sent them to me at 5" of thread. I dropped them another 1/8" after our chat. I somewhat wished that I had dropped them more, but I'm not unhappy. I'm going to assume that he'll have yours set around 5" to 5-1/4" based upon what he told me. Apparently 5-1/2" of thread is roughly 2.75" increase in ride height.

Thank you and yes...once I burn through these stock offerings. The CFO won't allow that purchase for a while...so maybe this time next year? Looking at 275/65/20 likely as I like the taller narrower look. I wish more people made the 285/60/20 as I'm not a Duratrac fan.

How would you describe the ride... smooth as stock, firmer than stock, more responsive? I have been back and forth over these coilovers so bad that I ended up missing the black Friday sale. My biggest concern is ride quality on the road because I rarely go off. I like the "adjustable height" coilover idea, but not at the expense of ride quality.

Thanks in advance.

That's a good question. Seems like you're in a similar boat to me. My truck is mostly a pavement pounder and really is only off pavement at the hunt lease/camp.
The ride is firm but not jarring. More stiff that stock, but more controlled too. There's less body roll but more feedback. You feel the bumps and pavement breaks, but the truck settles much quicker than it did stock. In my eyes the ride has improved. It's less soft but it's better, if that helps.

That's a great response. I think most don't expect the ride to change much when someone says "firmer but more controlled". Feeling the pavement breaks and bumps more so than I already do is not what I am looking for, but... I still wish I could see how much more stiff it would be.

There is also talk that the larger tires that are inevitable are tough on the stock suspension... but I have to say, most of the time I think that is the stiffer side wall tire (10 ply). I have seen this first hand and know from experience what a huge difference just a change in tires can make (at least to some it's huge... others don't care as much).

I love the off road aggressive tire look, but unfortunately it makes no sense for me to set my truck up that way. I have an FX4, but really it's only because I like the appearance package and not the off road capability.
