My 3m trim tape (red backing) lasted for about a week with linex. I actually epoxied them on.

Rick I put my LED strips where you want to. They throw a lot of light from there. Instead of putting a strip along the front of the bed I put one down the side in the front corner. They might not be bad, but i didn't want them shining at me while I was looking in the bed. I also used the factory hole for my switch. I needed some washers to hold my switch in the hole. I ground off one side of a washer so it was flat and it worked great. I did drill a small hole above the switch for the wires to go through above the switch on that side. I ran wire through the little clips under the bed rail caps to connect two of them. The driver side wires run through the factory hole and under the bed where I soldered them to the others.
I ran power from the battery just because I didn't want to open up the tow bundle to the water and salt we have on the roads up here. Can't answer on the bed liner since I don't have one
If I remember I can try to take pictures in the morning

I got a roll of the 3528 leds it was a 15 ft roll for free. I'm hoping they will be bright enough, now that the cold weather is here I don't think the 3m tape will stick I may have to wait for warmer weather now

Thanks for getting back to me...
Can someone that has a BakFlip cover post a close up picture of where you have the lights ran. As I mentioned above, I do not have the 45 degree angle up by the top of the rail as some of you have... Therefore I have to run mine as close to the top as possible, however the BakFlip clamps that hold the cover to the rail might get in the way.
I want to see how some of you are running your lights either above or below the clamps.. I'm looking for a close up picture during the day without the lights on... Thanks Guys...!!
My LEDS should be here in a few weeks... In the meantime, I"m getting everything ready...

I've read through most of this 20 pages and I've thought of a few things:
1) Is anyone using a magnetic switch instead of a pin/plunger switch? Why not?
2) Does anyone have a switch in the cab that would control these as well as a bed mounted switch? I'm going to have to think hard about this but I would love to have the option of the cab switch, the bed switch and maybe even the magnetic switch.
Reason being is at times I have a trailer and can't let the tailgate down. Often times the bed is loaded with gear and getting to the switch may not be easy, or I may not be getting out but others are and I could just activate it from the cab.

I thought about a magnetic switch, but the ones I found were not very highly rated. It also meant mounting two pieces instead of one. I went with the plunger for simplicity.
